Abstract—This paper is about the studying, design and man-

ufacturing an antenna that is capable of operating at frequency
of 5GHz, the antenna consists of an array of 16 elements of a
planar antennas with satellite aplications, structures organized in
4 simple elements 4 each. This was made of FR4 epoxy substrate
having e=4.7 and thickness od 1.6mm,the optimized antenna
operates across 4.9 to 5.1 GHz. The purpose of this antenna
is the radio broadcasting satellite operating at high frequencies.

I. INTRODUCTION
During recent years, microstrip antenna array is widely used
dueDuring recent years, microstrip antenna array is widely
used due to its several advantages, such as low profile, light

weight, and low cost, etc. [1]. In various communications
and radar systems, a microstrip array is greatly desired. The
designed antenna is suitable for the 5 GHz Direct Broadcast
Satellite (DBs) frequency bands. It is working in the frequency
band 4.9-5.1 GHz. Direct Broadcast Satellite (DBS) is the
service that distributes an audio, video or data over a large
predetermined area, using specially designed for this system,
allowing reception with small diameter terminals. Due to its
privileged position in space, satellites are more suitable for
direct broadcast to user terminals, as this allows an instant
connection with a large area. Also you can get high bandwidth.
The DBS system uses the frequency spectrum of 10.7-11.7
GHz (Ku Band), although initially in the United States began
to use C-band (5-6,4 GHz). DBS systems in small antennas are Fig. 2. Visualitation 3D of Array Antenna

III.B ANDWIDTH AND RESULTS

The parameter of the antenna is optimized using Ansofth

Designer. As show in Figure 5 the desired frequency as its
center frequency is 5Ghz and the interesting points -10dB are
respectively 4.9 and 5.1 Ghz with a bandwidth of 0.2 Ghz,
we have the radiation pattern where you can see how the
radiating antenna array , where only the ines of radiation are
observed when Phi is zero and 90 degrees[3].
Fig. 5. Simulated and measure return loss According to the simulations carried out in Ansofth we
have a bandwidth of 4.88 GHz at 5.1 GHz, HPBW=30.781,
FNBW=37.711, BANDWIDTH=2.855 percent, RADIATION
EFFICIENCY=80.69 percent .

IV.CONCLUSION
• Not having sufficient separation between antennas in the
vertical direction is the radiation pattern varies according
to theta, which does not mean that the antenna is bad, but
could be improved by separating more radiating elements.
• Utilizing an array of as many radiating elements only
improves the directivity but does not affect the operating
frequency.
• The C band is best to operate in areas of adverse weather
as Latin America.
• Implementation is very different to the simulation, be-
cause some things are physically difficult to recreate, if
not impossible for which we must consider very well the
dimensions that are to be used.
