Product Overview
eSpace UC solution is a leading unified communications solution developed by Huawei for enterprises. With the
SIP-based open platform design, eSpace UC solution provides diversified services, allows access for multiple
terminals, and features high reliability, simplified deployment, and easy integration.
eSpace U1900 series unified gateways ("the unified gateway") are core switching devices in the Huawei eSpace
UC solution that provide IP telephony (IPT) service for enterprises.

Document Overview
This document uses the eSpace U1911 unified gateway and IP phones as an example
to describe quick planning, configuration, and verification for IPT service in specific
scenarios. When the onsite requirements are different from those provided in this document,
you can consult this document about the general processes and methods, not about the
specific data planning. For more detailed configuration guide, consult the following documents:

1 The unified gateway functions as an IP PBX to provide call control functions. It connects to the PSTN through a
trunk to support voice communication between enterprise users, and between enterprise users and PSTN users.
In this scenario, eSpace U1911 is equipped with one SCU, one MTU, and one ASI board. Through the E1 trunk
provided by its MTU board, eSpace U1911 connects to the PSTN. When the AT0 trunk is used for connecting to
the PSTN, the OSU board is required.
2 Analog phones and fax machines are directly connected to the ASI board on the unified gateway.
(eSpace U1980 cannot directly connect to analog phones or fax machines.)
3 IP phones register with the unified gateway. When successfully registered, they can place intra-office and inter-
office calls.

2 Data Plan
Plan required data before the configuration. The following tables provide sample data for reference. The planned
data will be used in the operations tasks described in chapters 4–8 in this document.
Data in the following tables is based on the scenario described in chapter 1. In actual deployment, adjust the
data based on site service requirements and networking.

Note: Regarding IP phones, this document describes how to manually configure them one by one based on
static IP addresses. When you need to bulk deploy IP phones, it is recommended that you plan and deploy a DHCP
server for the IP phones to dynamically obtain IP addresses. For details about batch deployment of IP phones, see
the Administrator Guide of the corresponding IP phone model.
Ensure network connectivity between the unified gateway and IP phones. It is recommended that you plan their IP
addresses in the same network segment.

6b Configuring Prefixes
A prefix is the one for a called number, including intra-office prefix and outgoing prefix. An intra-office prefix is used
for intra-office or external users to call intra-office users, while an outgoing prefix is used for intra-office users to
place outgoing calls, including international toll calls, national toll calls, and local calls.
1 Choose Trunk > Prefix Configuration. The prefix configuration page is displayed.
Enter the intra-office prefix information and click Fill in the data according to section 2e “Prefix
OK. Plan”.
After users are configured using QuickSetup,
the system automatically creates intra-office
prefixes (for example, 8 in the scenario described
in this document) for the short numbers. You do
not need to manually create them again.
3 However, if long numbers exist, configure the
corresponding prefixes, for example, 23456 in the
scenario described in this document.
Set the three key parameters shown in the left-hand
figure. For the other parameters, the default settings

6c Configuring PRA Trunks
In this document, the unified gateway connects to the PSTN using an E1 trunk (PRA signaling). Therefore, configure
a PRA trunk here. If the AT0 trunk is used, configure the AT0 trunk by referring to section 6d. If other trunks are used,
configure the trunks by referring to the Product Documentation of the unified gateway.
1 Choose Trunk > Trunk Configuration > PRA. The PRA trunk configuration page is displayed.
