LESSON AIMS: 1 Revise the job vocabulary: teacher – school, waiter – café, doctor – hospital, farmer –
farm, shopkeeper – shop, nurse - hospital
2 Read the text about firemen
3 Introduce unknown lexical items: verbs – to put out, to help, to wear, to drive, to ring
nouns – hose, helmet, fire engine
4 Practice vocabulary

MATERIALS:
1. Textbook: Way Ahead – Pupil’s Book, Workbook, Practice Book
2. Whiteboard
3. Printed materials

ACTIVITY 1
AIM: Revise the lexical items introduced last year
PROCEDURE INTERACTION TIMING
Discuss about jobs. Ask students the following questions: Who works T-st 3 min
in a hospital /school/ shop /café? Where does a nurse /farmer
/shopkeeper /waiter work? Who helps people? Who sells vegetables?
Write 3 job riddles and ask students to identify the jobs. T-st 5 min
Nominate 3 students to read the riddles and say the answer.
Say 3 more job riddles and nominate 3 students to identify the jobs. T-st 3 min

ACTIVITY 2
AIM: Pre-reading activities - Firemen

PROCEDURE INTERACTION TIMING


Discuss about doctors and nurses. Ask students the following T-st 2 min
questions: What do doctors/nurses do? Are their job important? Why?
Discuss the pictures for the text about firemen. Ask students the T-st 2 min
following questions: Is the job of a fireman important? Why?

Nominate individual students to read the text T-st 4 min


Give students sentences with general information from the text T-st 5 min
Ask them to say if the sentences are True or False
