◆Application materials for EX Program WASEDA University

Academic Study Plan


The Academic Study Plan is considered an important criterion for selection. If your statement of
intended study plan at Waseda is not clear, or if your intention is not in line with the content of the
program, school, or department that you wish to enter, you might not be selected. Therefore, please
examine the curriculum carefully before applying.

*Students who are applying for


Courses conducted in English: write your response in English
Courses conducted in Japanese: write in Japanese
The Japanese Language Program (JLP): either in Japanese or in English.

1. Study Plan
(1) Explain your major and any thesis research that you are conducting at your home university. Also briefly
describe what you have studies in your classes.
(250 -300 words in English/ 400 words-450 words in Japanese)

(2) Describe your purpose and particular academic goals for Exchange Programs in the school of your choice
at Waseda University.
(600-800words in English/ 800-1000 words in Japanese)

2. Course Plan (except Double Degree Program and Doctoral course students)

(1) Courses offered by the school that you are applying for
Read the ≪Registration rules/ Course registration≫ and ≪Course List(or syllabus) and Note≫
carefully, and provide a list of courses for your first semester that you are interested in at the
School/Department you are applying to.
Please be aware that this is a temporary plan to make sure you understand the course curriculum.

It is NOT an official course registration. Official registration will be done after the program starts
(by lottery based system only if the number of applicants exceeds capacity).

If you would like to take courses offered by other schools or courses offered to all students, read the ≪
Registration rules/ Course registration≫ carefully, and provide a list of courses for your first semester
that you are interested in.
Please note that the possibility that you will be selected is quite small since exchange students are
intended to take courses offered by the school or department you are applying to.
It is NOT an official course registration. Official registration will be done after the program starts
(by lottery based system only if the number of applicants exceeds the capacity).
