What’s new
Installation Utility now supports the following operating systems:
■ Red Hat Linux® 5.2 (x86, x86-64, IA64 and zSeries 64-bit)
■ SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 Service Pack 2 (x86, x86-64, IA64 and zSeries 64-
bit)
NOTE
Installation Utility version 7.5.56 has been tested on Red Hat Linux 5.2.
If you run the Installation Utility on later versions of Red Hat Linux 5, it will display the
following warning message.
This warning message indicates that BMC could not validate the compatibility of the
Installation Utility with some releases of Red Hat Linux because these releases were
unavailable when the Installation Utility was released.
For platform support status for a product that you are installing, please refer to the release
notes specific to that product. If the product-specific release notes indicate a later version of
Red Hat Linux as supported and do not provide specific installation instructions, disregard
the warning message and proceed with the installation.
On an UAC enabled host computer, the execution of certain binaries displays the
information in a new command window and the new command window disappears
or terminates immediately. To prevent the window from disappearing immediately,
you must run the executables in a command window that is initiated using the Run as
administrator option.
Tracking ID Issue
QM001563472 During uninstallation of all PATROL products, if you choose to remove the
BMC Uninstallation Utility as well, the Uninstallation Utility removes all
the contents in the installation directory. This could include other products
such as BMC Portal that may be installed in the same directory.
If you do encounter this problem, you must run the configuration scripts
manually. The Installation Utility creates a log file that lists all the root
scripts that should be run during an installation session. You can use this
log file to determine which root scripts you must run. By default, the log
file is located in the $HOME/BMCINSTALL directory and uses the
following naming convention: computerName_timeStamp.log_rootscripts.
QM000531134 When installing with multiple CDs, if you use $HOME as the temporary
directory or switch temporary directories during the installation process,
the installation may fail.
