TASK 2.
You should spend about 40 minutes on this task.

Develop an essay for the following topic to a non-specialist reader. Use your own
arguments and examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Most of the world’s poor live in countries where tourism is a growing industry.
The issue is that
tourism does not benefit the poorest. How can the income generated by tourism
benefit the
poor? How can we ensure that tourism does not destroy the traditional cultures
and ways of life?

ANSWER:

Tourism plays a big role in one of the government sectors, it provides and helps
the country to increase their profits. However, there is concern in the poor people
do not benefits especially in economic viewpoint. In this essay I will give some
information and ways how the public benefits from tourism and to secure the
traditional cultures and ways of living.

Firstly, government should provide more jobs in the local community that will
help them to give them a chance to a have a little profit that will cover their daily
necessities. For example, there is one tourist in Philippines, the government
provide small stalls to the people in that place to sell their products and goods. In
this way the citizens will have a chance to produce more stuff. Secondly, the
government should limit the import products that competes the local
merchandise. In this way poor people will have chance of having more income
because they have increase production and demands on their own products. In
the end both government and poor citizens will benefit.

In regards to the traditional cultures and ways of living, government should

placed a certain place where the tourists can experience the culture and how the
ways of living of the locals. One example in the summer capital of Philippines,
Baguio City there is one place there that the tourist can wear their traditional
dress and teach them about their some traditions like dancing then the tourist will
donate some amount of money or things that they want to offer to help the locals.
In addition, continuous education from the schools will help the new generation
to maintain and preserve the traditional cultures and ways of living.

I personally believed that government should help the poor citizens in this
growing industry because they have the power and control of all the things.
