Technological Tidbit: How to Make an 8-page Mini-Book in Microsoft Publisher 2013

1. Open Microsoft Publisher.

2. Click on “More Blank Page Sizes.”

3. Scroll down to the “Publication Types” category.

4. Choose the “Booklets” folder.

5. Under the “Standard Booklets” category, choose the “1/2 A4 Booklet 5.827 × 8.268”
template.

6. Click “Create.”

7. When a pop-up box asks about automatically inserting pages, click “Yes” to automatically
insert additional three pages.

8. On the left side of the workspace, right-click on page 4.

9. From the dropdown list that appears, choose “Insert page.”

10. In the dialog box that appears, check that the number of pages to insert says “4” that will be
inserted after the current page and will be blank pages. Click “OK.”

11. Click on the “Insert” tab. Insert page numbers in the right-hand bottom corner. Choose the
same “Page Numbers” button again and uncheck the sentence “Show Page Numbers on First
Page” to hide the first page’s number.

12. Click on the “Home” tab. Insert at least two textboxes with different fonts and sizes. Click on
the “Draw Textbox” button and use the cursor to make one textbox of any size. Type in the
textbox. Repeat this step so there are at least two textboxes. One textbox should have Times
New Roman font of 12-point size. The other textbox can have a font of your choice in any
size.

13. Add a border of any color, style, and weight, to at least one textbox. Click in a textbox. Click
on the “Drawing Tools” tab that appears. Choose the “Shape Outline” option. Choose the
color, weight, and style of the border.

14. Insert at least one table of at least two columns and three rows. From the “Home” tab, choose
the “Table” button. Highlight the squares in the number of columns and rows desired.

15. Click the “File” tab. Choose the “Save” option. Name and save the file as a .pub file.

16. Go to Pixabay.com, and search for images.

17. Choose at least one image to download. Click on it and choose the size of the image to
download. Input the captcha code if needed to enable download. Save the image in the
“Downloads” folder of the computer. Repeat as desired.

18. From the “Home” tab in Microsoft Publisher, click on the “Pictures” button. Under the
“Insert pictures: From a file,” option, click “Browse.”

19. Navigate to the “Downloads” folder of the computer. Choose the image(s) to insert. You can
select more than one image to insert at one time by holding down the “Crtl” key and clicking
on the images at the same time.

20. Resize and edit the image(s) as needed using the handle dots around the image(s) and the
tools on the “Picture Tools” tab that appears when an image is selected.

21. Click the “File” tab. Choose the “Save As” option. Name and save the file as a .pdf file.
