CK2 – IaaS – Availability & Replication Policies are required

- The Availability Policy (Compute Cloud) defines the behavior in case of a VM crash
with 3 options :
1- Disable – No action
2- Monitor – Report the Error status to the orchestration
3- Active – Automatically restart the VM

- The Replication Policy (Storage Cloud) is unique for each instance and define the
Primary and Secondary data centers to be used. Key facts :
- The Policy can not be changed
- The replication is permanent and asynchronous
- Charges will apply for the storage used in each data center and for the data
replication bandwidth

CK2 – IaaS – How to create an instance
1 – Select your resource profile & Availability Policy
2 – Instantiate it using an image from the Oracle Cloud Image Library “Marketplace”
3 – Provides key details required for instance creation
Detail required Definition

CK2 – IaaS – What is JSON ?
– Introduced in 2002 as an extension of JavaScript. JavaScript Object Notation
– Became a replacement of XML designed for Cloud Management and
Orchestration, as pioneered for a Cartoon Network environment
– Became an International Standard in 2013 “ECMA-404” which morphed into “RFC
7159”

JSON is also an official MIME type known as “application/json” and a SOAP

replacement for remote procedures “JSON-RPC”

JSON IS THE OFFICIAL ORCHESTRATION LANGUAGE FOR THE ORACLE CLOUD !

Industry’s first Bare Metal Cloud Service
Why Bare Metal Cloud Services?

Fully Dedicated Built for Enterprise Apps Performance-First

Industry’s first fully dedicated Built to support demanding Performance-first approach

servers – no hypervisor, Enterprise apps: Oracle (Data with significantly higher

Journey To Cloud Should Start With Understanding Business Needs
Implications For IT Applications Recommended Cloud Approach
 Build new applications “in the cloud”
Situation 1 New applications must be built or (rather than On Premise)
sourced to deliver the required
 Business transformation agenda must be
business functionalities and digital
capabilities leveraged using Cloud (using SaaS if
applicable)
 Ex. 1: Landmark: Digital marketing
Analysis of capabilities  Responsys
Applications exist today to support
business needs Situation 2  Ex. 2: HSBC: Significantly extending back-
business needs, but are does not
based on office apps  Oracle ERP Cloud
meet the business transformation
transformation agenda and/or need significant  Cloud should be leveraged for Test & Dev of
agenda development to meet business needs all applications (irrespective of situation)
Focus of this presentation

Situation 3  Use the Oracle “Comprehensive Cloud

Current applications meet required Strategy” framework (as described in
business needs to a large extent the next section)
