ABSTRACT
The overland flow, is one of the main mechanisms of erosion and transport of soils in nature. Therefore,
the quantification of the transported material allows to analyze the erosive capacity of the current in the
soil. The main objective of this research was to compare the behavior of different criteria of fluvial
hydraulics applied to the studied phenomenon and to verify its validity through laboratory test.
This research proposed many criterions to quantify the transport of solid material caused by overland flow.
The methods were proposed from the revision of fluvial hydraulic criteria, which for similarity could be
applied here. Experimental test in trapezoidal flume of 0.05% slope and 0.2 m, were done, and discharges
between 0.2 y 0.8 L/s.
Applying the proposed criterions, the experimental device behavior was represented, getting that theorical
results agree quite well with the experimental ones. The results have been accommodated to certain
methods, generating greater incidence in transport in sandy soils. This has been based an analysis of total
sediment and bottom drag.
