Safety for workers

- All workers should wear helmets when they enter the trenches with helmets on their
head.
- Construction vehicles, excavated spoil , materials, etc. should be kept at least 1.5m away
from the edge of the excavation.
- Excavation below 1.5m depth, sheet pile with prop or timber support should be used.
- It is very important to inspect the adjacent structures, utilities, roads and slopes so that
any signs of movement or distress can be detected at the earlies possible opportunity.

Safety of public

- Adequate signboard should be provided to ‘warn and inform’ all road users in advance for
traffic diversion.

- The trenched area should be fenced and lighted at night so that by any chance people or
animals do not fall in the trench. The movement of vehicles near trenches should be regulated.

- Other building near the trenches should be provided with temporary supports.

- Sprinkle water on graded materials (e.g Crush run) to reduce dust generation.
