As we all know, in 2016 the ASEAN Economic Community officially begins. First let me tell
you what is the ASEAN Economic Community. The AEC is the realisation of the region's end
goal of economic integration. It envisions ASEAN as a single market and production base, a
highly competitive region, with equitable economic development, and fully integrated into the
global economy.
Indonesia has one of the largest population in the ASEAN region. Indonesia has many kinds of
tribes, languages and customs that spread from Sabang to Merauke. Indonesia has a pretty good
economic strength. It became the capital necessary to prepare the people of Indonesia towards
the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).
In my opinion, Indonesia has a lot of potential. We can see it in many ways, and I will tell you 3
of them.
1. In terms of its natural resources. Indonesia has the potential of natural resources that
will never run out, and will remain there throughout the life of nature itself. Indonesian
marine least 70% more widely unexploited. Marine biodiversity and storing wealth of
practical nutritional sources still largely untouched even yet imagined. Besides that we
also have other assets which potentially namely tropical forests which act as oxygen
producers for the needs of mankind. Sunshine throughout the year cause we do not need a
greenhouse expensive to develop its agricultural sector. The sunlight that allows the
process of photosynthesis in plants makes it possible to develop and produce agricultural
commodities is very large.
2. In terms of its human resources. Indonesia has a very large number of people. Based on
the World Population Data (World Population Data Sheet, 2013), Indonesia's population
ranks fourth in the world after China, India, and the United States. The population
reached 249 million.
Large population has its advantages, namely as a source of labor for development and as
a market for the products produced by the company or industry. With a large population,
Indonesia is not a shortage of labor, especially for industry.
The majority of Indonesian workers have demonstrated productivity and quality so that
the work can be exported. Indonesia has been able to make planes, ships, assembling
cars, and various other products, some of which is exported.
3. In terms of its culture. Indonesia's cultural diversity has the advantage to improve the
local economy. Cultural diversity can be seen in various forms such as language, customs
house, dance, weapons, and traditional clothing.The cultural wealth can attract tourists
from domestic and foreign tourists to come to Indonesia because they are attracted by the
various cultures in Indonesia. Some areas have a very well-known cultural treasures
beauty, such as Bali dances and traditional ceremonies such as Pendet, Kecak, and a
cremation ceremony. Various packages are interesting excursions. If tourists come to
Indonesia, thereby increasing the revenue of the State.
Besides tourism, cultural use is also made to strengthen the friendship between regions
and between countries. Culture can also be utilized material scientific study.
