In this article, authors Plesset and Janckiwicz explain why it is beneficial to both pet and
person to adopt at animal shelters rather than buying from breeders. By using research statistics
from PETA and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, they are better able to provide more
facts on why adoptions are the best option. The authors provide health benefits like maintaining a
healthier lifestyle and the levels of loneliness and even cholesterol when giving benefits the
animals give. They also explain how the animals can have better lives if adopted because of the
lowered chance of being on the market for the puppy mills. This article provides plenty good
reasons why pet adoptions are good and can help improve the rate of adoptions. This is

In the article published by the PETA organization, they explain to readers what most
animal shelters provide and consist of. By using recent events that occurred in states such as
North Carolina and Michigan, they are able to provide real evidence on what shelters are actually
like. This article explains the differences between “no-kill” or “turn-away” shelters to places like
“open admission” shelters that actually give animals decent homes. They also explain how it is
best to not let animals end up in the streets if avoidable, then they should be better treated in
adoptions and hopefully end up in a caring home. This helps my capstone in providing more
reasons why people should want to adopt from shelters. This evidence could be used to better
help convince more individuals on why this “open admission” adoption option, is the best idea in
Rollin, Bernard. “Ethics and Euthanasia.” The Canadian Veterinary Journal. Canadian
<https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2748292/>
In this article, Rollin explores the topic of euthanasia in animals and how ethically it is
not right. Rollin uses the teachings of Aristotle and the popular opinions of societies in order to
point out the negative factors included in euthanizing these animals. He explains how some
people often lose their desire to help animals and eventually results in the death of the animal all
because of the selfishness of that person. He also goes deeper into the facts that being selfish or
even careless is something negative, but apparently very common in today’s society even
without relating to animal shelters. This relates to my capstone because it deals with the topic of
animals being euthanized. This can be used to help convince people that killing these poor
animals is never the right option and can be avoided by adopting them from places that do this. It
might even help the actual process of euthanasia to be considered as immoral in some places if

In this article, the author provides ways one can start or even continue on their process of
promoting animal adoptions. By providing actual examples on the ways other people and
organizations promoted this, the author explains the ways that best help get people’s attention.
This article provides steps on how to handle the promoting process. It also provides examples on
what to do in case these methods do not work out. It also provides visuals on how to make things
like flyers and explains what information should be given out on them. I can use this in regards
to my capstone because it helps me gain ideas in how I will go about the promoting process. I
can use these examples and tips to my advantage and hopefully get a good outcome . By using
the information given, along with some of my own ideas, I am sure to have a greater impact on
my capstone as a whole.

This article provides facts and actual statistics of animal shelters around the nation. By
using records based on years, the article is able to provide actual information on how occupied
these shelters actually are. The purpose of this article is to illustrate to readers how many animals
are actually put through this system. This can give more people insight on how these shelters
actually run and if they are truly beneficial in terms of housing many animals nationwide. This
can help my topic by providing another reason why people should be more convinced in
adopting in order to help reduce the numbers provided, population wise. The more people are
aware of actual statistics, the more likely they are willing to help out in fixing a problem.
Because my capstone is mainly based on convincing other people to do a certain action, I can use
