Persuasive Paragraph
In present day society, women in developing countries are degraded and put down simply
because they are women. This causes most women to accept that they are ranked lower than
men. Some people may believe that women are superior than men in developing countries.
This could be because women are dependant in developed nations. When comparing the
overall development of men and women in developed countries, women are now doing better
than men. Which may cause men in developing countries to feel as women in their nations may
empower them. One of the United Nations human development report shows how women are
8% less well off than men, considering concerns like education, achievement, life expectancy
and income. This is simply not true because women in developing nations are still paid less and
do not get the same recognition as men for labour. Men tend to get paid more in developing
nations as they are encouraged be educated as women are not, they are expected to stay home
and work. Shouldn’t women at least get recognized for their agriculture labour? On average,
women make up about 43 percent of the agricultural labour force in developing countries.
Evidence indicates that if these women had the same access to productive resources as men,
they could increase yields on their farms by 20 to 30 percent, raising total agricultural output
in these countries by 2.5 to 4 percent. This would reduce the number of hungry people in the
world by around 12 to 17 percent. Men in developing nations prefer women only to be seen
and not heard. Women in Nigeria, Egypt and in other developing countries have been affected
by men and how their society doesn’t focus on the empowerment of women. The women in
developing nations are mostly being victims of contemporary slavery due to cultural beliefs and
lack of knowledge. In many countries it is seen that men are supposed to be leaders and to go
against that is considered disrespectful. In Egypt, more than 90% of men agreed with the
statement that “a man should have the final decision in the home”. Although many women
agreed (58.5%) most of these women don’t know that they are taken advantage of as women
make up more than two-thirds of the world's 796 million illiterate people. To conclude, men
are superior to women in developing countries. The men in developing countries simply don’t
want women to empower men and be dependant like they are in developed countries.
