The ability to predict a student’s performance on a given concept is an important tool for the education
institutions, it allows for understanding what type of students they are and what are the key concepts that help
to shape their knowledge. These are important factors for educators to know in order to constantly modify and
improve educating tools ( such as text books and assessments ).This project aims to build a classifier, which
predicts their performance on a concept they have not explored based on past performance.
IMPLEMENTATION:
The entire implementation is divided into five stages. In the first stage, information about students is collected.
In the second stage, extraneous information will be removed from the collected data and the relevant
information will be fed into the database. The third stage involves applying the ID3 and C4.5 algorithms on the
training data. The fourth stage consists of predicted students results. The final stage is to compare the accuracy
of the results obtained by the two algorithms.
PRINCIPAL IDEA:
Principal idea used in the project is to predict the student’s performance using ID3 and C4.5 classification
algorithms and the data required for this evolution is taken from huge educational databases.
VISION:
The academic status of the students is predicted in advance and the institutions can concentrate on the students
who need special attention to improve their results.
