Report and Certification of Obelix 10t Lifter D. BEAL ENGINEER PTY LTD ‘ACN 085 567 893 ‘CONSULTING ENGINEER (CONCRETE & MASONRY TECHNOLOGY & DESIGN PO BOX 60, SHERWOOD QUD 4075, REPORT AND CERTIFICATION OF OBELIX 10T LIFTER The 10T Lifter was tested to the requirements of AS3850 ~ Tilt-up Concrete Construction standard for both axial load and shear load capacity. This standard set out requirements under Clause 2.5 for Re-usable Lifting Equipment. It requires the limit state factor or load safety factor (LSF) of 5.0 and the Working Load Limit (WLL) be determined in accordance with Clause 2.2. The shear capacity of the anchor is determined in accordance with Clause 2.4.3. ‘The Working Load Limit (WLL) is determined by a formula given in the standard that has the limit state factor (LSF), the material safety factor for steel in axial load situation and a k, factor. The k; factor is a statistical constant which is based on the number of samples tested and the coefficient of variation, The values used in this test were as follows:- @) LSE - 5 (©) Material Safety Factor 09 (©) ke factor = 1.3 for sample numbers from | to 4 Working with a Working Load Limit (WLL) of 10 tonne, the test load was TOSKN which is approximately 72 tonnes. ‘The shear load requirement is specified to have for steel a safety factor of 2.5. So the working load limit in shear is the test load divided by 2.5. ‘The tests were performed by Melbourne Testing Services and the details and results are provided in their report which is Report No. MT-10/077 dated March 2010, ‘The maximum axial load applied was 709KN and the maximum shear load was 315KN, Based on the standard, the axial load applied would give a WLL of 98.1KN which is 10 tonnes. The shear load applied would give a WLL in shear of 126kN ‘which 12.8 tonnes. This is for the insert which is made of steel, but an equivalent load can be used for the lifter. As this is above the axial capacity, there is an Telephone (07) 3892 5068 Facsimile (07) 36026207 Mobile 0408 610431 Page Tof2 added safety factor in shear as the lifter will always be Toaded at a value Tess than the axial capacity of 10 tonnes due to the angle of the lifting ropes. Certifeation ‘This certifies that the Obelix 10T lifter has satisfied all test requirements for both shear and axial force under the Australian Standard AS3850 ~ Tilt-up Concrete Construction. D.
