Buying fashionable clothes is a routine in ours countries. However, society might judge you if
you spend your money on designer clothes forgetting extremely poor places in the world. Is
this fact an ethical behaviour? Hereafter, several arguments are going to be explained trying to
reply this issue.
On one hand, in order to make our world a better place, we must all collaborate in its
development. Burning a hole in your pocket buying expensive clothes does not contribute to
have a balanced world. In fact, it directly affects generating more inequality between
countries. It is better to spend money on useful and durable clothing and invest the remaining
money in ending the economic gap between countries.
However, on the other hand, the feeling of happiness that people experience when buying
expensive clothes can be increased if said brand works to alleviate poverty in the world. Thus,
many brands which have projects to improve living conditions in other countries as provide
work and future to people with an unfavourable economic situation. By and large, people
prefer to pay more for a piece of clothing if it contributes to social work.
To sum up, it is of utmost important to accept that everyone does what they want with their
money. Nevertheless, I believe the arguments against of waste money unconscious outweigh
the support arguments.
