Simba ODBC Driver for SQL Server 1.2.3


The release notes provide details of enhancements, features, and known issues in Simba ODBC
Driver for SQL Server 1.2.3, as well as the version history.

Resolved Issues
The following issues have been resolved in Simba ODBC Driver for SQL Server 1.2.3.

When querying large SQL_NUMERIC or SQL_DECIMAL values and retrieving the values as
SQL_C_SBIGINT data, an error occurs
This issue has been resolved. You can now retrieve SQL_NUMERIC or SQL_DECIMAL values as
SQL_C_SBIGINT data.

Known Issues
The following are known issues that you may encounter due to limitations in the data source, the
driver, or an application.

HIERARCHYID, GEOGRAPHY, GEOMETRY, and SQL_VARIANT data types are not supported
The driver exposes HIERARCHYID, GEOGRAPHY, and GEOMETRY data types as SQL data type -151,
and exposes the SQL_VARIANT data type as SQL data type -150.

The installer for the Mac OS X version of the driver does not alert the user when it fails to
write to odbcinst.ini
When the installer fails to write to the odbcinst.ini configuration file, instead of alerting you of
the error, the installer will report the event in a log file.

Wire Protocol Component logging does not work on iOS


The driver cannot produce Wire Protocol Component logs on iOS.

Enhancements & New Features

The following are highlights of the new features and functionalities that were added to Simba
ODBC Driver for SQL Server 1.2.2.

OLE DB now supported in the Windows version of the driver

You can now connect to SQL Server instances and work with data using the OLE DB
standard.

Improved support for data of type DATETIME2

You can now work with DATETIME2 values that are greater than 9900/03/01.

Support added for data of type DATETIMEOFFSET

You can now work with data of type DATETIMEOFFSET.

Added driver configuration option for specifying the maximum size of BLOB and CLOB columns

You can now use the LongColumnLength key to specify the maximum size of BLOB and
CLOB columns.

Resolved Issues

The following issues were resolved in Simba ODBC Driver for SQL Server 1.2.2.

In some cases, the driver fails to connect to SQL Azure instances

This issue has been resolved.

When using large Kerberos tokens, the driver may fail to connect

This issue has been resolved.

Version 1.1.1

Enhancements & New Features

The following are highlights of the new features and functionalities that were added to Simba
ODBC Driver for SQL Server 1.1.1.

Support added for building iOS 7.1 applications

You can now build iOS 7.1 applications by using the driver custom framework.

Version 1.1.0

Enhancements & New Features

The following are highlights of the new features and functionalities that were added to Simba
ODBC Driver for SQL Server 1.1.0.

Clang now used to build Mac OS X driver

The Mac OS X version of the driver is now built using Clang.

Upgrade to ICU 53.1

The driver has been upgraded to use ICU 53.1.

Support added for building Mac OS X 10.9 and 10.10 applications

You can now build Mac OS X 10.9 and 10.10 applications by using the driver custom
framework.
