ATI Radeon family Display Driver 8.xx for Windows 7

This file contains instructions for getting started with the


Windows 7 display driver for ATI Radeon family video adapter.

Please read this entire file; information in this file may not
appear in printed documentation or online AMD Desktop Help.

A. INSTALLING THE ATI DISPLAY DRIVER & CATALYST CONTROL CENTER

Refer to your Installation and Setup User's Guide for instructions


on installing the ATI display driver in your system.

Before installing the ATI video driver close all open applications
and disable any anti-virus software that is running on your computer
until the ATI driver installation is complete.

To install the ATI video driver:

1. Run the file 'Setup.EXE' on the CD-ROM or from your local hard
drive.

2. Follow the instructions displayed on the screen.

*Note : If using 'Setup.EXE' to uninstall Driver it will only uninstall the driver
and CCC (i.e. it does not uninstall the "ATI Catalyst Install Manager")

B. MANUALLY INSTALLING THE DISPLAY DRIVER PACKAGE

1. Click the Windows Logo button, right click 'Computer', select 'Properties'.

2. Select 'Device manager', double click the target display adapter device.

3. Click 'Driver' tab, and select 'Update Driver'.

4. Select option 'Browse my computer for driver software' and select 'Let me pick
from a list of device drivers on my computer'.

5. Click 'Have Disk' and click 'Browse...'

6. Enter the directory in which the display driver software is saved.

7. Enter the directory path 'Packages > Drivers > Display > w7_INF' for Windows 7
(32 bit); OR 'Packages > Drivers >Display > W76A_INF' for Windows 7 (64 bit)

8. Select the 'XX_XXXXX.INF' file and click 'Open'

9. Click 'OK', click 'Next' and the operating system will install the display
driver.

10. Upon successful completion, the operating system will display a success
message. Click 'close'.

*Note : if the driver has been installed by inf update then it can not be
uninstalled by CIM, end user need to remove it from Device Manager.

C. SILENT INSTALL/UNINSTALL

ATISETUP.EXE is located in the following folders:


32bit OS <Drive>\<DIR>\BIN
64bit OS <Drive>\<DIR>\BIN64

Silent install:
ATISetup.exe -Noui -Install -Output -Log "c:\install.log"

Uninstall:
ATISetup.exe -Uninstall all -Output

Other commands:
AtiSetup.exe -?
AtiSetup.exe -help

D. CHANGING THE VIDEO SETTINGS USING DISPLAY PROPERTIES

1. Click the right mouse button on the Windows Desktop and


select Personalize, then click to open Display Settings.
2. Select the screen resolution and color quality.

3. To change the refresh rate:


-click Advanced Settings,
-click the Monitor tab, and then
-select a value in the Screen refresh rate list.

( Note: Lower refresh rates cause the screen to flicker,


which can lead to eye strain. )

E. REMOVING THE DISPLAY DRIVER AND CATALYST CONTROL CENTER

Close all open applications and disable any anti-virus


software that may be running. You can uninstall a program
from your computer if you no longer use it or if you want
to free up space on your hard disk. You can use Programs
and Features to uninstall programs or to change the program's
configuration by adding or removing certain options.

To Uninstall:
-Open Windows 7 Control Panel.
-Click to open Programs and Features.
-Select ATI Catalyst Install Manager,
-Click Change
-Follow on-screen instructions to uninstall software

To Repair:
-Open Windows 7 Control Panel.
-Click to open Programs and Features.
-Select Catalyst Install Manager,
-Click Change
-Follow on-screen instructions to update / repair software

F. UNATTENDED INSTALL / UNINSTALL INSTRUCTIONS

InstallManagerApp.EXE is located in the following folders:


32bit OS <Drive>\<DIR>\BIN
64bit OS <Drive>\<DIR>\BIN64

The following command(s) are case sensitive.

Unattended Install:
InstallManagerApp /UNATTENDED_INSTALL "C:\DRIVERFOLDER\" /FORCE_HIDE_FIRST_RUN
/AUTOACCEPT_ALL /ON_REBOOT_MESSAGE:YES /FORCE_CLOSE_WHEN_DONE

* where C:\DRIVERFOLDER\ is the folder path of the software package

Unattended Uninstall:
InstallManagerApp /UNATTENDED_UNINSTALL /FORCE_HIDE_FIRST_RUN /AUTOACCEPT_ALL
/FORCE_CLOSE_WHEN_DONE

*Note : "InstallManagerApp /UNATTENDED_UNINSTALL /FORCE_HIDE_FIRST_RUN


/AUTOACCEPT_ALL /FORCE_CLOSE_WHEN_DONE" only runs "express uninstall" and
consequently only uninstalls the driver and CCC (i.e. it does not uninstall the
"ATI Catalyst Install Manager")

G. NOTES, PROBLEMS, AND LIMITATIONS

DirectX and .NET are parts of Windows 7, do not need to install separately.
