User Manual

Overview
FileExplorer   helps   you   to   access   files   on   your   remote   computer   (Mac,  
Windows,   Linux),   NAS   Server   and   Cloud   Storage   (Dropbox,   Google  
Drive,   One   Drive   etc)   from   iDevice.   Streaming   movies   and   music   to   your  
iDevice.   Directly   view   photos,   play   slideshow   on   computer   without  
iTunes   sync.   Access   and   manage   documents   on   your   office   computer  
from  home  through  iOS  VPN  or  port  forward.  

Connect Mac or PC from iOS


Before   set   the   connection   on   iDevice,   please   check   the   network   share  
settings  on  Mac  or  PC.  If  you  don’t  know  how  to  do,  please  refer  to  the  
documents  “Settings  for  Mac.pdf”  and  “Settings  for  Windows.pdf”.  
Once   the   shared   folders   have   been   set   up   on   your   computer,   you’re  
ready  to  connect  from  your  iDevice.  FileExplorer  offers  two  ways  to  set  
up  the  connection:  Auto  Discovery  and  Manually  Setup.  
 
Auto  Discovery:  
1.  Open  the  FileExplorer  app  on  your  device.  
2.   Tap   the   "+"   button,   then   select   the   item   (Windows,   Mac,   NAS   etc)   you  
want  to  connect.  
3.   All   available   computers   in   your   local   network   will   be   listed   in  
“Network  Neighborhood”  section.  
4.   Tap   the   computer   name   you   want   to   connect.   Then   input   your  
computer’s  login  account  (user  name  and  password).  

 
 
Manually  Setup:  
1.  Open  the  FileExplorer  app  on  your  device.  
2.   Tap   the   "+"   button,   then   select   the   item   (Windows,   Mac,   NAS   etc)   you  
want  to  connect.  
3.    Input  the  computer  name  or  IP  address  and  DNS  Domain  fields.  
If  you  use  IP,  leave  the  DNS  Domain  field  blank.  Otherwise,  please  input  
the  domain  name  if  your  computer  is  in  a  domain.      
Then   input   username   and   password   which   are   used   to   login   that  
computer.  

 
The   connection   has   been   set   up.   Tap   the   newly   added   connection   to  
access  the  shared  folder.  

Access Dropbox
There  is  a  “Dropbox”  item  after  you  tap  “+”  button  in  FileExplorer.  Tap  it  
to  sign  in  your  Dropbox  account.  Once  you  added  the  Dropbox  account,  
you’ll  be  able  to  directly  browser  your  Dropbox  files  in  FileExplorer.  If  
you   have   multiple   Dropbox   account,   you   could   add   them   all   in  
FileExplorer.  
Access Google Drive
Tap  the  “+”  button  in  FileExplorer,  and  then  tap  “Google  Drive”  item  to  
sign   in   your   Google   account.   Now   you’re   able   to   browser   your   Google  
Drive  files.  FileExplorer  support  multiple  Google  Drive  account  as  well.  

More Cloud Storages


FileExplorer  also  supports  OneDrive  and  Box.  After  you  tap  the  “+”  
button,  you’ll  see  the  OneDrive  and  Box  items  for  adding  them  into  
FileExplorer.    
Due  to  the  limitation  of  Box  SDK,  FileExplorer  supports  only  one    Box  
account.    

File Management
Rename:  
Swipe  your  finger  from  right  to  left  on  the  filename  or  folder  name,  and  
you’ll  see  the  rename  button.  Tap  it  to  rename  a  file  or  folder.  
 

 
Copy,  Move  and  Delete:  
1. Enter  the  regarding  folder  
2.  Tap  the  “Edit”  button  
3. Select  the  files  
4. Tap  the  action  buttons  on  toolbar  for  copy,  move  or  delete  files.  
 

Photo Transfer
Transfer  photos  from  iDevice  to  network  shares/cloud  storages.    
1. Enter  Photo  Library  in  FileExplorer.  
2. Tap  the  “Edit”  button.  
3. Select  photos  you  want  to  copy.  
4. Tap  the  “Copy  to”  button  and  select  destination  folder  on  network  
share.    
5. Tap  the  “Save”  button.  
 
Transfer  photos  from  network  shares/cloud  storages  to  iDevice.  
1. Enter  network  shares’  folder.  
2. Tap  the  “Edit”  button.  
3. Select  photos  your  want  to  copy.  
4. Tap  the  “Copy  to”  button  and  select  “Camera  Roll”  item.  

File Transfer
You   also   could   transfer   files   among   iDevice,   network   shares   and   cloud  
storages.  
1. Enter  the  regarding  folder.  
2. Tap  the  “Edit”  button.  
3. Select  files  you  want  to  transfer.  
4. Tap  the  “Copy  to”  button  and  select  destination  folder.  
5. Tap  the  “Save”  button.  

Supported file formats


Documents:   PDF,   Pages,   Keynote,   Numbers,   Word,   PowerPoint,   Excel,  
txt,  rtf.    
Photos:  jpg,  png  
Music:  mp3    
Movies:  mov,  mp4,  m4v,  mpv,  mkv,  avi,  xvid,  rmvb  movie  formats.
