CLAT Notification 2018

CLAT 2018 Exam Dates has been released. Common Law Admission Test is one of
the most popular law entrance exams and is conducted by 18 National Law
universities rotationally. It is a national level law common entrance exam for students
seeking admission in integrated LLB and LLM programme. CLAT is generally
conducted in mid-May every year. CLAT Scores are considered by several private
law colleges and government colleges across the country. Candidates can get detailed

Educational Qualification:

1. Under-Graduate Programme (Five Year Integrated Law Degree Hon’s)


Pass in 10+2 or equivalent examination with a minimum of (I) Forty-five percentage
45% of marks in case of candidates belonging to unreserved/OBC/Persons with
Disability/NRI/NRI sponsored categories and (ii) Forty Percentage (40%) of marks in
case of candidates belonging to SC/ST categories. Candidates appearing for the
qualifying examination in March/April 2018 are also eligible to apply.
2. Post-Graduate Programme (One Year LLM Degree):
Educational Qualification: An LLB Degree or an equivalent examination with a
minimum of Fifty-five percentage in case of candidates belonging to
unreserved/OBC/ Persons with Disability/NRI/ NRI Sponsored categories and Fifty
Percentage (50%) of marks in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST categories.
Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination in April/May 2018 are also
eligible to apply.

The exam is conducted for a duration of 2 hours. The CLAT 2018 has a negative
marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.

SYLLABUS FOR ADMISSION TO UG COURSE IN CLAT-2017 : (CLAT
Notification 2018)
Scope and coverage of questions under different subject areas:
1. English including comprehension:
The English section tests the candidates’ proficiency in English based on
comprehension passages and grammar. In the comprehension section, candidates will
have to answer questions on their understanding of the passage and its central theme,
meanings of words used in the passage, etc. The grammar section requires correction
of incorrect grammatical sentences, filling of blanks in sentences with appropriate
words, etc.
2. General Knowledge and Current Affairs:
The General Knowledge will be tested on the general awareness including static
general knowledge. Questions on current affairs will consist of national and
international current affairs.
3. Mathematics:
The Mathematics section will test knowledge of elementary mathematics or
mathematics taught at school level till class 10.
4. Legal Aptitude:
This section will test candidate’s interest towards study of law, research aptitude and
problem-solving ability. Questions may include legal propositions, and a set of facts
to which the given proposition has to be applied. Some propositions may not be
“true” in the real sense, candidates will have to assume the “truth” of these
propositions and answer the questions accordingly.
5. Logical Reasoning:
The logical reasoning section tests the ability to identify patterns, logical links and
rectify illogical arguments. It may include a variety of logical reasoning questions
such as syllogisms, logical sequences, analogies, etc. However, visual reasoning will
not be tested.
