1. What are the different aspects of in understanding Dance as an art?

The different aspects of dance in Understanding dance as an art are:

Performers, choreography, the impact of costume and dress on dance and the state
of the art in dancing.

A movement in dancing has aesthetic and symbolic value, and is

acknowledged as dance by performers and observers within a particular culture.

Dance is a powerful impulse, but the art of dance is that impulse channeled
by skillful performers into something that becomes intensely expressive and that
may delight spectators who feel no wish to dance themselves.

Dance may be an art of magnificent spectacle, but it is an art surprisingly

lacking in any sizable and coherently organized body of choreographic literature

The art of choreography: dance composition tools and exercises, dramatic

structures, music analysis, stage lightning, directing tips and more.

Typically, dance costumes are designed to harmonize with the dance and not hinder
the movements of the dancer.

2. Explain the cornerstones in clarifying the content of k to 12 educational dance.

In the content of the k to 12 educational dance it made easy by anchoring on the

four cornerstones; Physical, creative, intellectual and aesthetic.

The body is the instrument of expression. Dance itself requires all elements:
body movement and motion in space for a certain time, modulating energy and
dynamics, and in relationship to someone. The student will explore and experiment with
movement as part of the process
Apply compositional tools and choreographic principles, where students create
and compose dances with specific form and structure. Where teachers merely analyze
and refine their work.

In k to 12, the purpose of educational dance is broadly educating all students in

dance as an art form in all facets rather than produce professional performers.

3. What and how would you present dance as an art?

Dancing is one of the forms of arts. Philippines has a very rich cultural
dance. Dance, on the other hand, requires not just knowledge but a combination
of skills and attitude. To promote dance as an art, all people who are into
dancing, not just the physical education practitioners, must learn the proper
execution of steps, how body language communicates to the delivery of the
steps, how the person is connected to the dance, and how one is able to interpret
and communicate the dance through non-verbal languages.
If one learns the art of dancing, the preservation of this culture will echo
through eternity. Even if a person is not into dancing, but because of how a
dancer executes and internalizes the piece, he/she will be involved in the dance.
A great connection will be materialized. Thus, it will breathe life to its dance form.

4. Cite two national issues of teaching dance education in the context of Philippine
curriculum.

The preservation of the traditional dances in the Philippines, particulary

folkdance, this need to be stressed out that we have to follow the literature of the
dance. We know that this was handed down from generation to generation.
Modernizing or changing it will create disrespect to certain group of people.

Next issue is, the knowledge gained by the younger generations in terms
of folk dances is less. Therefore, there has to be more trainings, seminars,
workshop intended to all P.E. practitioners.

To help preserve our culture, we must help one another in resolving these
issues. Thus putting identity of the diverse culture we have in the arena of
dancing.
5. As a dance specialist, what do you think that a policy maker needs to change or
improve in the dance education curriculum? State your reason why?

As a dance specialist, I think offerings should have uniformity, especially

in universities. Since we belong to one department. I for example, this is the
significant observation I noticed when it comes to the offerings of Physical
education in different universities. We have to be uniformed with other
universities in terms of dance education curriculum so that we also have
standard knowledge on dance. Those from provinces can compete to the
demands both local and national.

6. Define dance education curriculum?

Dance Education Curriculum frames and supports the knowledge and

understanding of educational process, experience and outcome. It contributes
vitally to a child’s overall education about dance, the world, the arts and the self.
It also supports the diverse and vibrant practice of dance. It is developmentally
appropriate and culturally sensitive which empowers students as they acquire
diverse skills and understanding of physical literacy and aesthetic literacy.
