Overview
This document describes the steps to install TstBench version 9.0.11 or to upgrade TstBench to
version 9.0.11.
This guide uses the following text conventions:
• Bold indicates a user action, such as a button press, menu navigation, or keyboard stroke.
• Monospace font indicates text to enter.
Install TstBench
This chapter provides the steps to install TstBench on a computer for the first time.
• If you want to install TstBench on your computer for the first time, start at “Prepare to
Install TstBench” on page 3.
• If TstBench version 9.0.8 or earlier is on your computer and you want to upgrade to
version 9.0.11, go to “Upgrade TstBench” on page 9.
• If you do not have administrator access to the Program Files or Program Files (x86)
folder, you will install in C:\user\<username>\My Documents.
2. To check if Java 8 is installed on your computer: Open the Command Prompt window,
then at the Command prompt, type java –version, and then press [Enter].
• If the response shows java version “x.8.x_xx” (the major version, 8, is correct),
go to the next step.
Note: The minor version number can vary, such as 1.8.0_25 or 1.8.0_31.
• If the response shows ‘java’ is not recognized, go to the Oracle web site and
follow the steps to download and install “Java SE Runtime Environment 8” for
Windows (x86).

Chapter 2 - Install TstBench
d. Open the folder with the downloaded files, and copy local_policy.jar and
US_export_policy.jar to the Security folder.
5. The TstBench installation file is available through Trilliant Support. To obtain the
installation file, visit TrilliantInc.com, select Support, and request the TstBench
installation file.
6. After Trilliant Support provides access to the site and a TstBench license key, navigate to
the site and download TstbenchInstaller_9.0.11_build3984a7f.exe.
Note: In Internet Explorer, the file name appears as
TstbenchInstaller_9.0.11_build3984a7f[1].
7. If you downloaded through Internet Explorer, edit the file name extension to be
TstbenchInstaller_9.0.11_build3984a7f.exe
Install TstBench
1. Open TstbenchInstaller_9.0.11_build3984a7f.exe. The TstBench Installer window
opens (Figure 1); click Next.
2. At the License agreement, select “I accept the License Agreement” and click Next.
3. Choose the installation folder (Figure 2).
• For a 32-bit operating system, install TstBench in C:\Program Files.
• For a 64-bit operating system, install TstBench in C:\Program Files (x86).
• If you do not have administrator access to the Program Files or Program Files (x86)
folder, install TstBench in C:\user\<username>\My Documents.
4. Follow the prompts in each window and, for best results, accept the default options to
complete the installation.
5. When the installation is complete (Figure 3), click Done.
1. At the license message window, click “I agree to the terms and conditions,” then click
Install.
2. When the Visual C++ installation is complete, click Close.
Upgrade TstBench
Trilliant recommends that in order to upgrade TstBench, you uninstall the older version and then
install the new version of TstBench.
Follow these steps:
1. To preserve your configuration files, back up the following files and folders:
• scp folder
• .trilliant folder
• security folder
• tstbench.ini file
2. Uninstall the older version of TstBench. Use either of the following methods:
• From the Start menu, select Control Panel > Programs and Features > TstBench,
then right-click and select Uninstall (Figure 5).
3. When the uninstallation process is complete (Figure 7), follow the steps in “Install
TstBench” on page 3.
4. When the installation steps are complete, replace the new configuration files and folders
with the files and folders that you backed up in step 1.
Note: When you replace the new copy of tstbench.ini with your original copy of tstbench.ini, it
will set your username, license key, and Unique ID for the upgrade. After you start
TstBench for the first time, you must verify and, if needed, edit the paths for
“Resources” and “Java JRE.”
Launch TstBench
When you run TstBench, you must have administrator rights. The first time you open TstBench,
you see a prompt to enter your username and license key. If you do not have a license key, contact
support@trilliantinc.com.
1. Locate the TstBench icon and right-click it. From the menu, select Run as
administrator.
The TstBench registration dialog appears.
2. Type values for the registration parameters:
• Name: enter your TstBench username
• License: enter your license key
3. Click Valid license. The Login window appears (Figure 8).
4. Type the Windows Username and Password that you use to log into Windows.
Note: For details on who can log in with Windows credentials, contact your corporate system
administrator.
5. Click OK.
The first time TstBench opens, the main TstBench window opens with an error message
about “No configuration file.” Click OK. The next steps set the configuration values.
6. In the main TstBench window, select File > Properties. The Properties dialog appears.
