studies involving environmental disasters

ACADEMIC EXPERINCE

Brown University, Providence, RI 2004 - 2008

Postdoctoral Research Associate
Investigated the involvement of DNA mismatch repair in cisplatin-induced senescence and apoptosis
pathways. Also, explored hypoxia induced resistance to chemotherapy, genotoxicity and cytotoxicity
induced by small molecules and several heavy metals including Cr (III) or (VI), Ni, Co, and metal
containing carbon nanotubes.

University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, ND 2003 - 2004

Postdoctoral Fellow
Studied heavy metal induced carcinogenesis in the context of metallothionein genes and protein
expression profiles. Lead a research project to transform a normal human breast cell line by heavy
metal exposure, and developing a rodent models to transplant transformed breast cells in mammary
gland. This project resulted in continuing support by NIH and series of publications that were
instrumental in understanding heavy metal induced carcinogenesis.

University of West Virginia, Morgantown, WV 2000 - 2003

Graduate Research/Teaching Assistant
Investigation of mRNA and protein expression profiles of several isoforms of heavy metal-binding
proteins, Metallothioniens (MTs), and their potential significance in diagnosis and prognosis of
breast cancer tumors.

University of California, Davis, CA 1996 - 1998

Graduate Research/Teaching Assistant
Investigation of nucelogenesis in primary and metastatic tumors induced by v-src
