Project Work

The students should submit the title of the project on the prescribed Performa duly
approved by the project Supervisor latest by 26 August 2016. (attached above)

The first viva-voce for the project work will be held on 16 Sept 2016 which will include
the section 1 given below.

General Instructions for the preparation of project Report

Section 1

(a) Introduction: Brief account of the selection and description of the process,
special features, innovation and selection of the design methods. Extensive
literature survey and Process flow sheet.

(b) Material and energy balances for the process streams as well as utilities.
Detailed material and energy flow sheet.

(c) Identification of equipments for the process and equipment design.

Section 2

Calculations for (i) process design and

(ii) equipment design.

Section 3

(a) Detailed design drawings (to the scale) of equipment, including layout
drawings, accessories and piping.

(b) Specification sheets for major equipments.

(c) Cost estimation details, selection, pipe-lines, insulation, accessories etc.

(e) Instrumentation details, selection of instruments and instrumentation diagram


for optimum process control.

(f) Instruction for start up, shut down and other plant operations

(g) Maintenance and safety measures requirements.

(h) Computer programs for the design of major equipments chosen, if any.

 The students are, therefore advised to meet their supervisor regularly and
inform/discuss the progress of the project work in their own interest.
5. Students must submit the complete/part-report of hand written project work to the
panel of examiners at the time of each viva-voca examination.

6. The part-reports will be returned to the students by examiners with remarks, if any,
immediately after the viva-voce examinations.

7. (i) the students will be required to submit two typed hard bound copies of the final
project report to their project supervisors.

(ii) Spacing for typing should be 40 mm on left, 12mm on right, 22 mm on top and 12mm
on bottom.

(iii) The title page, besides title of the project, shall consist of the name of the student,
departmental address with year of submission.

Nothing else should be written on the title page.

8. While submitting the Final Project Report, the students must submit separately a
certificate from the Project Supervisor approving the submission of the project Report.
No Project Report will be accepted without this certificate.

9. Only those students, who submit the final bound copies in time, will be permitted to
appear for University viva-voce examination for the project work.

10. The bibliography should be according to the accepted norms taken from any Journal
or book. Special care should be given to it.

11. Metric system (or SI) should be followed.
