Summer Training Report- Guidelines (July 1998) (Revised 2003/2005) 2015& 2016

1. The report should be such that it gives a comprehensive and clear idea of what
you have observed and done, to a third person who has not been through the same
situation.

2. From this point of view, the preliminary requirement is to include an executive

summary, acknowledgements and other details.

3. The report should set the organisational context, the business, its volume and the
trends in the business and other details as you think necessary.

4. It should give a clear idea of where you worked and what organisational processes
you observed and what insights or understanding you developed as a result of your
observation.

5. If you encountered problems on the way, please do not hesitate to state them
clearly along with your response to them.

6. If you have done a project, state its context, objectives, methodology followed,
field work done, findings and recommendations. You may include relevant data about the
company that supports your work directly. Do not include unnecessary data downloaded
from online sources for the sake of filling up pages.

7. The report should also contain a synthesis of all the experience that you have gone
through, your reflections on it and your conceptualisation and learning.

8. Your work will be evaluated on the basis of depth and breadth of your application
to the internship and the care and precision with which you have learnt from the
experience.

9. Do maintain a soft copy of your final report for your record. This will be helpful
at the time of placement. (Gautam Ghate)

Guidelines for Summer Internship Viva for PGDM2

The project report is assessed on the following parameters

● Content: how the material is structured, flow of material, validity of methodology
used
● Presentation: Language, Grammar, Graphics and Visuals, Layout of report
(indexing, sections, etc.)

The Viva Process:

The Viva consists of 2 parts:
-Presentation by student (10minutes)
-Questions and Answers (5 minutes)

Each student is required to speak for 10 minutes on the following:

● Objective of the Summer Internship: Your internship could consist of a ‘study’
(eg. ‘Study of Sales and Distribution Network’) or a ‘project’ (eg. ‘Sales Pitch Analysis
For…’). In either case the objective of internship must be clearly stated.
● Methodology used: What methodology was used to accomplish your internship
objective. ( If it is a ‘study’ you should talk about methodology used to conduct the study.
If it is a ‘project’ you should talk about methodology used for gathering and analyzing
data)
● Findings and Conclusions
● Key Learning from the Internship experience.
Students are required to stick to the above-mentioned format for presentation. Any
digression from the same will not be permitted.

Examiners will question you on the entire project report and not just your presentation.

Assessment for the viva will be done along the following parameters:
● Content
● Presentation style
● Adherence to time boundaries.

Students should be dressed in institute formals for the viva.

The Assessment Process:

The assessment process consists of 4 parts:
-Assessment by Faculty Mentor ( 4 Quarterly reports)- 40 marks
-Assessment by Company Mentor (for entire internship) – 60 marks
-Final Project report assessment – 100 marks
-Viva Voce – 100 marks

Total – 300 marks
