 My clients name are Michael and Barbara
Lannister. who are from Pittsburgh, PA.
The Lannisters want to live in a growing
community where they are able to enjoy
their hobbies. They are an elderly
couple who are in the process of
retirement. The Lannisters like to read, as
well as watch movies, and playing golf.
The couple want a Heppeville style for
their interior.
 Hepplewhite style was created by
George Hepplewhite. The Hepplewhite
style is known now with furniture such as
chairs that had spider legs. Window seats
are known famous in the Hepplewhite
style as well as satinwood, mahogany,
and fire screens. Sideboards are made
with the serpentine and bow fronted
shapes.

Concept statement
The Lannisters choice of home is the
Hepplewhite. The couple who are both retiring
want to move to a home with inviting colors. The
choice preference are natural, yet whimsical.
Kale green is to be used throughout the first
floor to cause a warm glow upon entering the
home. White and brown are used for the kitchen
to add to the tall windows for natural light.
Brown, blue and black is a choice for furniture
for the bedroom and living room.

Code Analysis

Codes are important in a residential design due to keeping people safe. The information
learned was based on electrical and energy conservation. Electrical is important when living in a
residential home and using items that are to be plugged in. In historic buildings some wiring has
to be replaced due to wear and tear and shortages. Electrical examples such as appliances in the
home along with wall mounted appliances have to be connected to a branch circuit and placed
underground. Energy conservation example can be when it snows that the ventilation system cuts
off at a certain temperature. Sprinklers can be used in a positive and negative way. The positive
is that sprinklers can be used to extinguish if there is a fire in the kitchen or in another part of the
room. The negative impact could be if not in the residential building a fire can start and there
would be no sprinklers a lot of people could die and lose a lot of their belongings. According to
the National Fire Protection Association sprinklers have to be in newly constructed model
homes. Sprinklers should be in all homes regardless of new or old. In residential building
electricity plays an important role. Electricity causes a house to function with lights, heating and
cooling, as well as the use of appliance. It’s important to follow code guidelines to in order to
pass inspection so residents will be able to live in the buildings. If the codes are not utilized in a
residential building electrical wiring that has not been replaced or repaired can cause fires. An
electrical code 607 states that any existing electrical wiring must go under repairs or be replaced
with new wiring. Electrical codes are still used since the new age. Before there was electricity
there were no codes to use when building homes. In this generation electricity is used just for
plugging up a fan or a computer or even charging a phone.

In Addition, if the underlining codes are not met for the structure, with users who have
impairments or not, accidents happen. Most codes reflect the average users’ safety and try to
have a range of needs covered in communication. Fixtures required in every dwelling place for
example are, smoke detectors, sprinkler systems, and fire alarms. With the clients in mind that
might have hearing or sight impairments it is important these already required fixtures have
additional features that accommodate for the user. Codes are the utmost importance for any
building or structure to be successful in housing and protecting the people in it.

Study Model Analysis
 What elements can be modified to achieve better symmetrical or asymmetrical balance?
 The layout of the master bedroom is for the couple to be able to have room to move around and not
be crowded. The room contains a queen size bed, dresser, chair for relaxation and a night stand. The
one thing that can be added is a King size bed and a second night stand. The item that can be
removed is the dresser which can possibly fit into the closet.
 Where are pleasing proportions seen in the model?
 Furniture comes in all shapes and sizes and it is from the Hepplewhite style. Most of the furniture is
not the same height due to furniture arrangements. Each furniture piece is made from mahogany
wood pieces. The dresser and the night stand are the same height so the couple will be able to have
no problems at reaching for any items needed. The bed will be 2 inches off the floor so the couple
can get in and out of the bed a lot easier. The walls are 10 inches tall with vaulted ceilings.
 How does scale play a role in the mass of the furniture arrangement?
 The furniture arrangement can be placed in multiple positions around the room. I a king size bed
is placed in the Lannisters bedroom the dresser will have to be taken out. The dresser has a large
mass where as the night stand has a smaller mass.
 What are the dominant and subdominant forms seen in the design?
 In most bedrooms there can be different shapes of furniture. The bed is in a rectangular shape. The
dresser is a rectangular prism. The night stand is a sphere, and the chair has an oval shape. The
most that has been repeated is the mahogany pieces such as the night stand and dresser.
BUILDING #1
1. Cabinet is at a level for reaching items.
2. Two glass doors to show items inside the cabinet
3. Top four openings for books and movies. .
4. Drawer for extra storage
5. Access to the cabinets from different angles.
6. Extra storage at the bottom as well as the stand.
7. Cabinet is made from oak wood with a mahogany finish.

Justification Paragraph

The Lannisters love the Hepplewhite era furniture. The furniture they
have asked for is specific furniture to go with their newer home. The
furniture functions with their style preference as well as room choices. The
fabrics chosen are from the Hepplewhite era for the chairs, bedrooms, and
upholstery. The Lannisters will walk through the house and feel a warm and
welcome feeling that will allow peace and tranquility. The fabric is easy to
clean as well as flame resistant. The Lannister will feel truly at home after
this transformation.

Justification

The lighting in the Lannister causes a warm glow around the house. The couple
wanted to have different lighting in each of the rooms. The colors in the home are cool
and tranquil. The paint will be throughout the first floor and some of the rooms on the
second floor. The accent wall in the master bedroom is the wallpaper that stood out to the
couple. Colors in a home can mean different vibes for any individual. Colors are
important due to furniture and the environment. The objects picked are efficient and safe
due to new rewiring for the light fixtures.

Justification
 The items chosen represent the feel of
the Lannisters. The canvases for the living
room, dining room and office make the
rooms feel cool, calm and relaxed. The
pictures will not take away from the view of
the home, but will allow family and guest to
see how it goes with the flow of the home.
The figurines are for the living room, dining
room, and office. The Lannisters want their
home to look inviting with figurines that
point out their hobbies as well as to flow in
these main three rooms.
