in clinics, birthing homes to advocate EBF & follow the 10
steps to successful BF.

HOW DO WE STORE BREASTMILK

Key points in storing milk:


 Expressed BM that is not refrigerated can be stored for at
least 8 hours at room temperature.
 Refrigerator- good for 24 hours
 Freezer- compartment of Ref- good for 2 weeks
 Freezer section or refrigerator with separate door, good
for 3 months
 deep freeze in 18 C or lower- good for 6-12 months
COMPLEMENTARY FEEDING

 Given to infants 6 months/180 days.


HOW TO INITIATE CF
 Start with small amounts of nutrient-rich foods & increase
gradually as the child gets older
Among infants 6-8 months of age, CF should be given 2-3
meals per day, 3-4 meals per day are given to infants 9-23
months of age.

Management of Childhood Illnesses (IMCI), & Oral Health
Program
 GP- an integrated package of services concerning health,
nutrition, & environmental sanitation, but mainly
concerns micronutrient supplementation of VITAMIN A,
and Iron among children. This also include DEWORMING
among preschoolers ages 1-5 years.

Deworming
 Provides protection to children against measles &
prevents malnutrition which causes decreased
resistance against infections

against iron- deficiency anemia which is
