Preface

This book is an introduction to rules of English grammar and

usage. The book gives the suiting of language to purpose. It
spells out the rules of grammar. And it gives and lays down
what is acceptable usage. This is for daily users of English with
new models and examples. The aim is to increase the readers'
skills in handling English language.

There are many books on English grammar in the market.

Competitive exam aspirants have always been complaining that
there is no book which covers all the rules exhaustively. Keeping
the complaints of such candidates in mind I have tried to make
a unique book on English grammar for competitive exams
aspirants. I hope that the students will appreciate my unique
attempt.

No book can be the last word on the subject. I am conscious

that the book can further be improved. I will welcome suggestions
or comments from the readers in this respect.

I am very thankful to my esteemed publishers Dr Sanjay

and Mr Manoj Kumar for their painstaking and creative efforts
to bring this book in such a nice form.

I would like to extend my thanks to all those who have played

a role in making the book available to the readers. I am grateful
to those in the computer section — Mr Abhyanand Sinha, Mrs
Pinky Bisht, Mr KB Singh and Mr Pankaj Narang without whom
this book would not have been possible.

No work is perfect. I would be obliged to those who point out

the errors of this book. Advice and suggestions for the
improvement of the book will be gratefully received.
