Hot lunch- Lunch cards are available for purchase in
the main office. The cost of a 12-meal lunch card is
$44 (K-6) and $50 (7-12).
You can also purchase a partial lunch card in
increments of the meal amount. Please note that the
office will no longer be providing Ramen Noodles. If
your child does not have a lunch card or a sack lunch,
they will be sent to the office to call you.
Milk Cards – Milk is now included with each meal. If
your child wants ONLY milk and no meal, the cost for
the milk is $0.50. Milk cards can be purchased for your
child for $8 (16 punches).
Pizza Cards – Pizza cards can be purchased in
increments of $15 and $30. Salad will be included for
students who would like it. Students also wanting milk
can purchase it with their milk card.
Hot Lunch Volunteers - There are a few more
volunteer slots to be filled for preparing meals for our
kids. If you can spare about 4 hours one day per
month, we would greatly appreciate it! Please call
Cindy Morgan at the school or leave a message with
the office.

Alumni Weekend: Please join us this weekend for
Alumni Weekend. All Alumni from VRA and BJA are
invited to come celebrate with us.

Golf Tournament
No Passport Required Dinner: Please sign up by
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 10! Join us for a lovely trip to
France. The evening festivities will begin at 7:30 pm.
This fundraiser is to help raise money for movable
bleachers to use at sporting events.
Cirque du Soleil: Friday September 10th is the last
chance to buy tickets to go see Alegria on January 26,
2011 at 7:30 pm. Please call the office if you would like
to order tickets. Please remember that the school is not
providing supervision or transportation.
Spring Break Trip: This year’s trip for Spring Break is
to France. Carol Schneider is planning a fun trip
abroad. If you are interested in joining this trip you are
welcome to call the school or email her at
carols@vrak12.org. To reserve your spot the first
payment of $300 per person is due on September 30,
2010.
Edline: Edline is up and running. It is a way for parents
of 5th -12th graders to check their child’s progress
online. Please stop by the office to get directions on
setting up your account and your activation codes.
The Great Shirt Swap: Thank you all for your
donations in the Great Shirt Swap. Many children were
able to increase their wardrobe. Thank you for helping
these families in need.
Furry Friends: Parents please be aware that we are
no longer allowing pets in the school. We have a few
students who are very allergic and are trying to keep
them healthy.
Volunteer Help: We are in need of some light welding
for different projects here at the school. If you are
willing and able to help fill these needs please give the
office a call.
We are also looking for more volunteers to help in
our school Library. If you are interested in helping
please contact Rozi Spiers at 303-664-0630 (home) or
720-232-7128 (cell).
Pathfinders: We will have our first meeting on
Monday, Sept 13 after school.
Adventures: The Adventurer Club (pre-pathfinders) is
starting up again! Registration will be Monday,
September 13 at 3:45 p.m. (after school). Those in
Grades 1-4 are eligible to attend. Meeting dates and
times (3:45-6:00 p.m.) will be the same as the
Pathfinder club meetings. More information will be
available on Monday. If you have any questions,
please call Lori Clague at 303-774-8878.
Teacher Notes
Grades 1-2, Carisa Carr: Snack Shack sponsored by
1st & 2nd grade will start on Monday, October 13. You
may purchase $5 punch cards for your child. We will
also take cash. We will be offering Caprisun, Skinny
Cow Ice Cream Sandwiches, Simply Fruit Roll-Ups,
and 100% Fruit Freezes.
Grades 3-4, Nancy Hansen:
We have been working hard on quick recognition of
numbers for adding and subtracting. We are doing
much of our work on white boards, so you won’t be
seeing much homework.
Grades 5-6, Sandy Hodgson: The Hot Lunch
program has started. If you intend for your child to get
a hot lunch, pizza, or just milk, please make sure you
have purchased a card in advance from the office. Ask
your student about Toast Thursday!
This Saturday and Sunday is Alumni Weekend at
VRA. Check out the information about this event and
plan to join us.
We plan to tie dye (weather permitting) this Friday.
Let me know if you need help getting a white t-shirt for
your child. It doesn’t have to be new.
Wednesday, September 15 is a half day. School is
out at 12:15 due to Teacher Inservice.
Sunday, September 26 is our Fall Festival from 1:00-
4:00 p.m. If you are willing to help at our booth for part
of the afternoon, please contact me.
Bob Dunkin: PARENTS: Please help your child
remember to bring their instrument to school every
Monday and Wednesday.
For Alumni Weekend members please plan on guys
wearing black pants and white dress shirt, girls wear a
black dress or as dark as possible. Guys and girls
should wear black shoes.
Grades 7-12 Band and Choir members please be here
Saturday Sept. 11th, at 10:00 a.m. We will be meeting
in the music room.
Grade 7-12 Gary Force: September Compassion
$2.00 support is due.
Mini Mid-term tests will be next Wed-Fri.
Be sure your student fills out their review sheets.
Soccer has their first game this Friday. We need
rides to Cedarwood for a 12:30 game.
Soccer: This week’s game is against Cederwood. The
game will be played at Fred Thomas Park. The park is
located at 28th and Quebec. We will have directions
and maps in the office for parents.
FUNDRAISERS

A fundraising calendar will be distributed shortly so that
you know what is coming up and can decide in what
event you may want to participate.
Colorado Christian Cup 2010 – VRA’s annual golf
tournament is Sunday, September 12. FRIDAY IS
THE LAST DAY TO SIGN UP. Breakfast/registration
starts at 6:45 a.m., shotgun start at 8:00 a.m. The
tournament will be held at Thorncreek Golf Club.
Prizes include an Audi A4, $10K, $5K, and domestic
roundtrip airfare for two, in addition to other great
prizes and giveaways! Pick up a registration form at
the front desk or call Cindy at 303-828-4944. COME
HAVE LOTS OF FUN WITH US! Please register by
September 10.
Peaches – The peaches are being delivered for pickup
and payment on Thursday, September 9 (8:00-10:00;
1:00-5:30) and Friday September 10 (8:30 until 2:00
p.m.). PEACHES MUST BE PICKED UP AND PAID
FOR BY FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 10. THERE ARE NO
FACILITIES TO KEEP THEM THROUGH THE
WEEKEND. If you have trouble getting to VRA for
pick-up, please call Tony Wuerfel at 269-277-1226.
Fall Festival – Our Fall Festival is getting a facelift this
year! Our festival will be held outside on the fields at
VRA from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. on September 26th. There
will be food, games, caramel apples and even a dunk
tank! You won’t want to miss this one! Come hungry
and ready for lots of fun! This is a Home & School
sponsored event.
If you have a canopy or sun shade you are willing to
let Home and School borrow for the Fall Festival,
