Learning
The learning material covers all aspects
necessary for certification. The material is split
into the usual eight units, which are each
divided into topics and smaller sections. This
allows the material to be studied in bite sized
pieces and in any order.
The material includes over 1500 multiple-
choice questions. These allow ongoing practice
and assessment, and are an ideal preparation for formal tests. Further,
when students answer incorrectly, they are automatically directed back to
the learning material specific to the questions they get wrong.
A glossary and 'toolbox' are also included to further enhance this
comprehensive product. Interactive (learning) activities are included after
every 4 or 5 learning screens to reinforce learning and make it more fun.

Online Access
All the learning material is also supplied online. A very small additional fee
is payable for each online access account.

Books
Textbooks/Workbooks may be purchased for each
student or they can be printed free from the disks.
The textbooks match the multimedia learning
material and include self assessment questions,
activities and other learning tasks.
Support books that include task list worksheets,
assignments and glossaries (in English and
Spanish) may also be purchased or printed free
from the disks (the support book material may
even be edited if you wish).

Start Here! – Six simple steps…

1. Ideally, run the training video first –

but if short on time – follow these steps.
Insert the disk or USB in the drive and it
will autorun. Double-click ATTTraining##.exe if not.

4. Ensure the speakers are on as all the

screens have voiceover. The ‘T’ button
shows the text, the ‘L’ button shows
labels and the bottom left buttons select
images or control a video (when used).

5. Try out the buttons on the interface.

‘Annotate’ only works when a learning
screen is showing. Click the ‘Books &
Support’ button to open a folder that
contains the textbooks and support files!

4
2. If requested, enter the login codes
from the certificate in the package or
those emailed to you.

3. Click one of the unit buttons on the

main screen area to access the contents.
Click again to select the area of interest
until a learning screen runs.

6. The ‘Quiz’ button on the interface is

active when in the menu. The questions
shown will relate to the currently selected
area i.e. all units, one unit, or one part of
a unit. Enjoy!

FAQs
Where do I start!?
Run the Demo/Training CD if time allows (30 minutes) – if not see the Start Here! Guide on page 4.

What does each package cover?

There are two packages, each containing four units:
1. Brakes, Steering & Suspension, Electrical/Electronic, Engine Performance.
2. Engine Repair, Heating and Air Conditioning, Manual Drive Train, Automatic Transmission
and Transaxle

What does each package contain?

Each of the two ATT packages contains a DVD, textbook, support book, training CD and a
guide/help booklet. Additional hard copy books (in color or B&W) are available, and recommended,
but they can also be printed from the DVD if preferred.

How do I login?
When the program first runs on a new computer a login box is shown. Enter your Identifier (ID) and
the Expiry date, tick the Enhanced box, and then enter the Access Code (key). A certificate is
included in the package with all this information on it. The Logon box will disappear as soon as the
correct code is entered. This procedure will need to be repeated on each machine when the
program is first run. If you need to change the logon details at any time, start the program as
normal and then press <ctrl> + <alt> + <k> together to show the logon box.
Network managers can enter the code centrally to prevent the login request on remote machines.
To do this, create a file named reg.inf using Notepad, so that the first line contains the Identifier and
the second line the Access code. Save this in the root folder.
The codes are changed annually.

Are there any installation requirements?

The material will run directly from the learning DVDs. However, it is better if networked or copied to
a hard disk. If installing on the hard drive or a network, simply create a folder and copy all the DVD
contents into it. Create a short cut to the ATTTraining##.exe program and that’s it!
No other setup is required other that having Adobe/Flash player 8+ and Adobe Reader 6+ installed.
If required, these setup programs are supplied on the disk.

What are the PC specifications?

The minimum system requirements for a Windows-based PC are:
 Pentium 200 processor
 Microsoft Windows 98, ME, NT4, 2000, XP or Vista
 64MB of memory minimum
 DVD drive

7
 10 MB of free disk space (3GB if installed)
 Color monitor with at least 64k colors (800 x 600 min) 1024 x 768 is best

Is technical support available?

If you experience technical difficulties with this product, you can send a message to
support@atttraining.com

What are the ACCESS and ENROLMENT codes for?

The DVD material will not run without entering an ID, date and unlock code. This is to prevent the
disks being pirated! As a registered user if at any time you need a reminder or an updated code
then just email and it will be sent to you by return. The enrolment key allows you and your students
to access the online material. This key changes regularly to prevent unauthorized use but once
enrolled then a new key is not needed.

Can the ATT material be supplied for our college/company VLE/LMS?

Yes! An additional charge is made for this – please email for details.

What are the license restrictions?

The license requirements are simple: Colleges, Schools or Training Companies may copy any part
of the material for any number of students as long as it is for normal educational use by enrolled
students and employed or contracted staff on the agreed site.

How is the material structured?

Each of the main units is structured in the same way:
 Safety, tools, equipment and customer care
 Theory and technology
 Service and repair
 Fault diagnosis
The order of the material in the theory and practical sections is set out as a teaching plan or a
scheme of work – so, start at the top and work through all the sections in turn! A Word document of
the structure is available on the DVD or online.

Can we get updates?

Yes! The online material is being updated all the time. Updated DVDs can be supplied to you when
available (usually one per year). An additional charge is made for the updated DVDs.

How do I access the online material?

ATT is available on line (for registered users) for a very small additional per user cost each year.
When your college or company purchases the online option, a special ENROLMENT key (emailed
to you) will allow you and your students to access this area without any further payment.

8
What EXACTLY does ATT contain?
 4500 multimedia learning screens
 1500 multiple-choice questions
 40 assignments
 300 task list worksheets
 8 task list cross references
 5 support documents
 2500 English and Spanish glossary entries
 And more!

Do I have to use things like the lesson and curriculum plans?

No! Use ATT in whatever way helps the most – the additional material is intended to support you as
you become more familiar with the package.

Does the material cover everything required by the standards?

The DVD and online material includes:
 Thousands of multimedia learning screens and learning activities
 Multiple-choice quizzes (There are over 1500 questions, ideally used on screen, or they
can be printed out by Instructors)
 Glossaries (huge electronic automotive glossaries in English and Spanish)
 Tools and equipment reference (like a picture dictionary)
 Practical task worksheets linked to the task list
 Assignments
The textbook (better thought of as a workbook) matches the computer-based material exactly; it
can be printed from the DVD or purchased separately. The book includes self-assessment
questions, tasks, labels to complete, bullet points and more, to improve learning.
An additional support book includes task list cross references, hundreds of practical task sheets
and assignments as well as the English and Spanish glossaries in printed format (this book can
also be printed from the DVD or purchased separately).
So, it would never be right to say 100% coverage – but it is close!

Is the material for self-learning or is it Instructor led?

The material is designed for use by the Instructor in the classroom or by a student working on their
own – self-study may need to be directed by the Instructor of course! Using ATT on screen in the
classroom greatly reduces instructor prep time and helps guide the curriculum.
Self-learning is made easy because of features such as the glossary, equipment list, activities
screens and textbook interaction.

9
Is there a suggested curriculum?
The theory and practical sections are presented in a suitable order to use as a scheme of work /
curriculum plan – just start at the top and work through to the end! (Word versions of the structure
are on the DVD). All this is of course entirely optional – use the material in the way that works best
for you.

How should lessons be run?

The simple answer to this is: How ever it works best for you and your students! But, the package
does contain a generic lesson plan. This is linked to the ATT material and is included on the DVD
as an ‘active’ Word document (meaning that adjustments are easy to make).

Does ATT include a suggested task list?

Yes! However, this is intended to help with your own list and not necessarily replace it. The ATT
task list is a series of worksheets that can be printed or bought as a support book. A Repair Order
example is available that can be used in conjunction with the worksheets. Edit this to meet your
specific requirements.
A cross reference table is included with each unit (in the support book) that shows how the NATEF
requirements are met by the built-in worksheets.

How do I order the ATT package?

Complete the attached order form – include a check or official company order and the package will
be with you ASAP.

How do I get more help or ask questions?

Email is usually the best option:
alan.church@atttraining.com or tom.denton@atttraining.com
