Rajalakshmi Institute of Technology - Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) was


constituted on July 2016. Before that, there was Department Advisory committee (Not
DAB) with senior faculty members to address the quality-related matters of the college
through campus facility coordinator.

VISION OF IQAC

 To improve the quality of the education to a level of setting benchmark for the
education providers and researchers.
 To create highly innovative professional and globally competent by continuously
enhancing the teaching learning process.

MISSION of IAQC

 To improve the teaching learning process


 To enhance the quality of the teaching and non-teaching staffs.
 To promote quality sustenance and enhancement.
 To bring about stakeholder participation and involvement at all levels.

ROLES :

1. Decisions have been laid on integrating the efforts for quality improvement with
alignment to the institution vision and mission.
2. Plan, implement, and measure the outcome of academic and administrative
performance.
3. Readdressing all concerns and suggestions from various stakeholders.
4. Develop realistic and attainable quality benchmarks for each of the academic
and administrative activities.
5. Identifying the skill / curricular gaps and fulfill with quality sustenance activities
through Workshops, Seminars, Group Discussions, Panel Discussions, Symposia,
etc.
6. Facilitate the teaching learning process so that students can have exposure on
new frontiers of knowledge.
7. Document all information pertinent to quality assurance.
8. Also ensure consistency, accuracy, and updating of current information with
other reports like NBA, AICTE, Anna University reports, etc.
9. Serves towards quality improvements in areas of academics, research,
administration, and supporting services.
10. Suggests strategies for continuous improvement at an operational level.
11. IQAC plans regularly on continued enhancement and excellence by conducting
mock inspections, arranging ISO audits, satisfying non-compliance / deficiency
from AICTE or Anna university teams.
12. Procedures / planner / calendar to ensure smooth functioning of the academic
activities and administration activities – with transparency, reliability,
comprehensiveness, and clarity.
13. Identifying and facilitating the implementation of new degree programmes /
value added programmes to meet current and future needs of society and
industry.
14. Implementing the best practices and Innovation to enhance the teaching-
learning process and achieving faster growth and excellence in research.
15. Facilitating the technical and non-technical
FDP/seminars/conferences/workshops.
16. Escalating the issues to the management and support the expansion of
infrastructure with respect to buildings, library facilities, computing facilities,
laboratories, etc.

17. Encouraging the community service activities among students such as NSS,
Rotaract, YRC, Enactus, etc
18. Specific IQAC interventions and recommendations with regard to various
NBA/NAAC criteria to internalize the Quality Assurance, Quality Sustenance and
Quality Enhancement.
19. Setting and evaluating the benchmark in Teaching-Learning and research
process.
20. Documenting and implementing the a suitable system for feedback (from
students, parents, faculty, administration, employer, alumni), thereby ensuring
the closure of the loop.
21. IQAC works in tandem with the team developing and maintaining
CAMS/SUPER/KMC.
22. Suggesting the suitable and remedial measures based on the assessment exams
result analysis and continuously evaluating the performance of the students.
23. Monitoring the log books and the counseling books regularly for ensuring the
proper functioning of the system.
24. Ensuring the quality of the education by conducting visits to the laboratories and
the class rooms. Also wetting the documents projected to outside world.
25. Identifying the special class requirements and arrear management class
requirements for further action.
26. IQAC has pointed out the lack of sufficient number of faculty members and
suggestive corrective measures to improve cadre ratio.
27. Encouraging and supporting the sustained programmes like consultancy
projects, e-learning, skill development, Patenting, entrepreneurship, innovative
projects, etc.
28. Directive to all researchers in research publications and funding from other
agencies. i.e. Initiation of Seed fund and research initiation grants for research
promotion.
29. Promoting collaborative activities between industries and institutions by havng
MOUs, etc.
30. Establishing innovation Laboratory / centre of excellence such as for machine
Vision embedded systems, Bosch - Automotive Electronics Laboratory, Robotics
lab, etc.
31. Student Support and Progression Initiation of Training programmes for various
competitive examinations like GRE, CAT, GATE, and GMAT.

32. Arranging motivational and knowledge sharing session during the monthly
faculty meeting for enhancing the faculty skills.
33. Facilitating the creation of a lerner-centric environment conducive to quality
education and faculty maturation. Thereby ensuring the growth of the faculty
along with the institutional growth.

ANSWERS FOR THE NAAC QUESTIONNAIRES CRITERIA 6.5.1

a. Has the institution established an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC)? . If ‘yes’,
what is the institutional policy with regard to quality assurance and how has it
contributed in institutionalizing the quality assurance processes?

ANS : Yes, points 1-33.

b. How many decisions of the IQAC have been approved by the management /
authorities for implementation and how many of them were actually implemented?
ANS : Green book checking, counselling, lab manuals verification and many more.

c. Does the IQAC have external members on its committee? If so, mention any
significant contribution made by them.
ANS : Yes, CGC members are guiding the smooth running of the institution.

d. How do students and alumni contribute to the effective functioning of the IQAC?
ANS : Decision from quality improvement also done by obtaining the feedback from
the alumni, also facilitating the alumni meets.

e. How does the IQAC communicate and engage staff from different constituents of the
institution?
ANS : Each department having a coordinator and having coordinators of various
services in the board.

f. Does the institution have an integrated framework for Quality assurance of the
academic and administrative activities? If ‘yes’, give details on its operationalisation.
ANS : Yes (yet to be restructured)

g. Does the institution provide training to its staff for effective implementation of the
Quality assurance procedures? If ‘yes’, give details enumerating its impact.
ANS : Yes, every semester, every department conductng FDP, non teaching are send for
skill enhancement.

h. Does the institution undertake Academic Audit or other external review of the
academic provisions? If ‘yes’, how are the outcomes used to improve the
institutional activities?
ANS: DAB minutes helpful in formulation of PEO.

i. How are the internal quality assurance mechanisms aligned with the requirements
of the relevant external quality assurance agencies/regulatoryauthorities?
ANS : ISO

j. What institutional mechanisms are in place to continuously review the teaching


learning process? Give details of its structure, methodologies of operations and
outcome?
ANS : Verification of log books and counselling book regularly along with class
committee meeting and course committee meeting, Notes on lesson verification, etc

k. How does the institution communicate its quality assurance policies, mechanisms
and outcomes to the various internal and external stakeholders? Any other relevant
information regarding Governance Leadership and Management which the college
would like to include
