FROM FATHER RICH

I hope you had a nice and peaceful Labor Day. We did and that’s good,
because we really needed it. We are slowly recovering from the painful
experience on Saturday one week ago. I wanted to thank you for your patience,
understanding and courage. Nobody panicked and I am grateful for that. All
our Masses and services took place and were still well attended. I know it is
no consolation, but I want you to know that on the Labor Day Weekend there
were other Churches and Catholic Schools that experienced breaking in. It
proves that the evil is among us and spreads around. We witness more and
more violence every day. Does it makes us angry? Of course it does. Can we
protect ourselves? I think it’s hard because we cannot see in every person an
enemy who wants to hurt us. We were raised and taught to trust and love other people. As a parish we
will review all our policies and will make necessary changes to protect people who work here and wor-
ship here.
The most challenging thing for us today is to accept the words of today’s Gospel speaking of God’s
endless mercy. God gives everyone another chance. Let us pray for those who lost God’s way. May God
open their hearts and minds so they can reconcile with Him and with others. Remembering the terrorist
attack on September 11, 2001 let us pray for all the victims and their families. Let us pray for peace in
our hearts, in our families, neighborhoods and the whole world.
Yesterday we celebrated the opening Mass for Religious Education program. We welcome back all
teachers and students. We wish them and pray that this year will be fruitful and will bring all involved
closer to God and one another. We thank parents for providing Catholic Education for their children, es-
pecially for those who will be preparing for the Sacrament of First Holy Communion and Confirmation.
Save the Date
The meeting with representatives of the Archdiocese of Chicago regarding selection of the new pastor
for St Albert the Great Parish will take place on Wednesday, October 6th in the Church at 7:00 p.m..
All parishioners are invited.
God Bless! Fr. Rich

CATECHETICAL SUNDAY - SEPTEMBER 19, 2010
The Gospel Embraced, Proclaimed and Witnessed.
Catechesis has as its center and its goal "... a Person, the Person of Jesus of Nazareth." Catechesis is,
therefore, for all ages. It is for all eras of history and for all time to come. It is for adults, for youth, for
children; it is, as the Gospel itself, for people of every race and cultural heritage, for people of all strata of
society, for those with special needs of every kind. Catechesis is the development of one's initial conver-
sion to the mystery of Jesus Christ. It is the lifelong deepening of a personal relationship with Christ.
We who are privileged to serve the catechetical ministry are responsible for understanding the breadth
and depth of the mission we share. In faithfulness to God's design we add to the masterpiece. If you are
interested in becoming a catechist, please contact the Office for Catechesis and Youth Ministry, Cardinal
Meyer Center, 3525 South Lake Park Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60653, (312) 534-3700

The ceremony for the blessing and commissioning of the St. Albert the Great Catechists
will take place on Sunday, September 19th at the 9:00 a.m. Mass.
Please, keep them in your prayers.

GRATITUDE FOR GOD’S CALL

If you were to write a letter to a friend or colleague, would you make a shopping list of your flaws?
Might we all not, instead, chat about the events of life, our achievements, perhaps how our stock, or
that of our children or others we know, has risen a bit? In his letter to Timothy, Paul reinforces the
lessons of the scriptures of the past few Sundays: how we must humble ourselves, how our strength
is in God alone, how we can be strong or exalted only in Christ. The fact that we are still standing in
the presence of the Lord despite all our shortcomings is a sign of divine patience. Paul writes to
Timothy that gratitude is his response to God’s mercy, to God’s grace and love poured out in Christ
Jesus. Paul is grateful that God considered him trustworthy to be appointed to his vocation, his min-
istry to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ everywhere. In this, we are shown that our own re-
sponse to God for whatever vocation God has for chosen us is to be gratitude. And that gratitude
ought to refuel us to continue the mission of spreading the Good News everywhere. © Copyright, J. S. Paluch Co.

OD KS. RYSZARDA

rodzin czasem pokoju i wypoczynku.
My musimy uczynić wszystko aby zapewnić bez-
rocznicę terrorystycznego zamachu 11-go września, 2001r.
Przypowieści o zaginionej owcy, zagubionej drachmie i synu marnotrawnym pomagają nam
zrozumieć misję Chrystusa, który przyszedł zbawić tych, którzy „zginęli”. W Jego zachowaniu
i wchodzi do wspólnoty zbawionych.
Wszystkich
Witamy nauczycieli i uczniów Polskiej Szkoły im. Mikołaja Reja, która rozpoczęła zajęcia w
ubiegły piątek. Życzymy im aby ten nowy rok szkolny był owocny w poznawaniu Boga i naszej
kochanej Ojczyzny Polski.

We środę, 6-go października o godzinie 7:00 wieczorem w Kościele odbędzie się spotkanie
z przedstwicielami Archidiecezji w Chicago odnośnie decyzji ustanowienia nowego proboszcza
Parafii Św. Alberta.
