Local Borough elections
On Thursday 3 May 2018, eleciions will be
held across the Borough to elect local
councillors to the Borough Council in the
folllowing wards.
Byfleet and West Byfleet;
Canalside; Goldsworth
Park; Heathlands; Hoe
Valley; Horsell; Knaphill;
Mount Hermon; Pyrford and
St Johns.
Your vote can make a real
difference. Voting in
elections is one of the
most effective ways of
making sure that your voice
is heard by decision-makers
within your community.
What happens now?
The list of candidates standing in the
Borough elections will be published on
Monday 9 April 2018. Full details will be
available at www.woking.gov.uk
The candidates who are standing for election
in your area will be campaigning to explain
why they think they should be elected. They
may choose to contact you in a number of
ways including by post, phone or by visiting
your home. Publicity malerials from the
candidates are likely to outline who they are,
why they are standing for election and what
they intend to do if they are successful. Your
vote can make a real difference.

How will Councillors be elected?
ffi Councillors are elected using a simple majority voting system,
known as 'first past the post'. As there is only one vacancy in each
ward, electors will have one vote.
Once all the votes have been counted, the candidate with the most
votes in each of the 10 wards will be elected.
