3. 0 Methodology
3.1 Study design
Study was conducted the treatment facility in allopathic/ Ayurvedic/ Unani/ Homeopathic
system of medicine in upazila level of Gopalganj district of Bangladesh by collecting both
qualitative and quantitative data randomly through a survey using a structured
questionnaire as the principal tool.

3.2 Study Area


The study was done among the people of Gopalganj district dividing in 05 Upazila On the
areas of Kashiani, Kotalipara, Gopalganj Sadar, Tungipara and Muksudpur. The study
areas were selected according to distance, easy travelling, and density of population to
survey.

3.3 Sample selection


All economical stages people of 05 Upazila of Gopalganj district and different practitioners
allopathic/ Ayurvedic/ Unani/ Homeopathic system were selected for survey. A total of 05
questionnaires were processed for the survey.

3.4 Data collection


After preparing the questionnaire, primary data were collected from the target sites during
March 17, 2017 to June 15, 2017. The respondents were asked to verbally answer a
structured questionnaire. The primary data were collected from the respondents in face-to-
face interview. The questions were asked systemically in a very simple manner and the
information was recorded on the survey schedule.

3.5 Inclusion and exclusion criteria


The respondents who were easily reachable, especially at bazaar, market, bus station,
health institutions, and physicians practice places and other crowdie places were included.
On the other hand people who were in house, at office and did not cooperate for survey
were excluded. Practitioners were present on both inclusive and exclusive areas. Male
respond-dents were more cooperative than female that's why majority of the respondents
were male. Women who showed restriction to conversation were excluded. Children and
very old people were also excluded from the study. In the survey respondents' age,
education and socioeconomic conditions were considered as including criteria.

3.6 Data processing and analysis


After collection, all the data were summarized and scrutinized carefully and then recorded.
Finally, relevant tables and graphs were prepared in accordance with the objectives of the
study. Micro-soft Office 2007 program was used for data processing and analysis.

3.7 Question pattern for the patients


1. Name of the physician/ Kabiraj/hakim/homeopath.
2. Education qualification of practitioners.
3. Professional degree of practitioners.
4. No of patient attended per day on an average.
5. Background of patients comes for treatment.
6. Dispensing of the medicine to the patient.
7. Methodology of diagnosis of diseases.
8. Patient satisfaction about the treatment.
9. Doctor's satisfaction about the treatment.
10. Types of medicine available for treatment.
11. Treatment success percentage of different type of treatment systems.
12. Cost benefit amongst the different treatment systems.
13. Reasons for choosing the treatment system.
