INGLES I - marzo 2007

Cátedra: Prof.Trad. Ana Janků

CONECTORES (Connectors)

Ej.Nº1: Press again the Pause button after stopping and rewinding the tape. (conector de tiempo)
Press again the Pause button (when?) after stopping and rewinding the tape.

Ej.Nº2: The design of your machine guarantees a maintenance-free operation over a long period of time.
However, if you observe any distortion, call your dealer.

1. I like the article Mike Collins wrote about MIDI + Audio. However, there is a small error.
2. You can erase tracks 3 and 4. It may happen, however, that parts of the old recording remain
unerased.
3. Although there are cheaper ways to design an output stage, this time-tested approach is
generally considered superior to non-complementary-symmetry types.
4. Although quality cables cost more, they make a difference.
5. Alesis recognizes that amplifiers will sometimes be driven into clipping –even though this is
not a good practice.
6. Even though the 852 loudspeaker has the same 200 watt rating as the 802, the larger 15”
woofer offers more treble volume for your audience.
7. Alesis recommends stranded, rather than solid, cables. Nonetheless, solid cables are equally
usable.
8. Audiophile cables are controversial: some people feel that the extra expense produces an
improvement in sound quality, while others find no sonic difference with other wiring.
9. MIDI Verb is based on classic theme but it’s new in every way. And the best is the price.
10. A variety of models is available, including the Concord 5, weighing 5 kilos, yet capable of
toping up to 102 kilos of equipment.
11. Despite the efforts, new and more sophisticated audio tapes have not been developed.
12. In spite of this cable being rather expensive, its performance is quite low.
Conectores de Tiempo -Establecen una relación temporal
-Responden a la pregunta ¿Cuándo?

1. After selecting the song you want to play, press the PLAY/PAUSE button.
2. For songs 30 to 39, the tempo may change during some songs.
3. During playback from Chord Memory, the entire keyboard becomes a melody keyboard.
4. For the fastest rewind, press the stop button twice before pressing REW.
5. Try this equipment before you buy it.
6. Automatic playback continues until all of the songs are played.
7. Press the STOP button to stop playback; then press the PLAY button again.
8. Pressing any of the keyboard keys while the count is sounding cancels the count.
9. When you finish editing, choose MIDI.
10. Use the AC adapter to keep the keyboard connected to an AC power source whenever you
have important data stored in the Chord Memory.
11. Your recording is automatically erased as soon as you make a new recording on the tape.
12. Since 1990 many discoveries have been made.

1. The earphone plug may be inserted in two positions and thus allows switching off the built-in
loudspeakers.
2. Any resistance between the amp output and speakers will degrade the sound quality.
Therefore, the cables you use are very important.
3. Plugs are very sensitive elements. Consequently, they break very easily.

Because: porque
Because of / due to: debido a
Since: ya que
As: como
1. Due to the high cost of professional products, they are used only in exotic hi-fi systems.
2. Since the amp doesn´t produce power on/off thumps itself, the mute circuit can be pre-power.
3. The tempo may change because of the characteristics of the piece.
4. Because memory contents can be lost, we recommend that you use the AC adaptor.
5. As the location of a mic depends on the acoustical conditions of the room, we recommend
test recordings.
In order to: a fin de
To: para
So (that): de modo que
1. Adjust the input level so that the HEADROOM indicator illuminates occasionally on the
highest signal peaks.
2. In order to start recording, press and hold the PLAY button and then press RECORD.
3. To reduce the length of a recording, hold down the TIME switch and turn the
INCREMENTAL CONTROL knob down.
4. To return to the delay mode, press the selected mode switch so that its LED goes out.

higher signals without distortion.
2. In addition to this, another modification of both recorded and played back signals is called
equalization.

handle the gear plugged into it.
9. Both Phil Collins and Bruce Springsteen have had a huge success in the music world.
10. Most ground loop problems can be solved by plugging all equipment into the same
grounded AC source. Besides, you can break the connection that causes the loop condition.

2. If the keyboard is not plugged into an AC power source, memory contents will be lost.
3. Recording will begin if the transport is put in the record mode.
4. If you experience difficulty in removing the plug, sometimes a slight rotating motion while
unplugging will solve the problem.
5. Sometimes it is difficult to determine whether the mic is in the most appropriate position.
6. You can check whether a vocalist is recorded in the correct relationship to the musical
accompaniment or not.

10. The keyboard will sound provided that you turn it on.
11. He will learn provided that you teach him.

PRACTICA GENERAL

After stopping and rewinding the tape, press again the Pause button, the Recording button and
the Start button. Now the level of the second recording is adjusted by means of the level control.
The setting of the Multiplay control must remain unaltered. As soon as you release the Pause
button, the artist hears the first recording through his earphone and may sing to it in
synchronization. The monitoring volume of the first recording is adjusted with Volume Control
R. The second recording is combined with the first recording. The tone engineer monitors both
recordings so that he can correct the level of both recordings even during the recording process.

Mix modes permit Programs to be put or used multitimbrally to provide up to 16 separate parts
on 16 different MIDI channels. Programs can also be assigned velocity and key groups,
allowing complex orchestral and synth setups to be generated easily. This makes the QS6 a
powerful master keyboard, the only potential problem being that five octaves may not really be
enough for some players. In Multitimbral mode care has to be taken over how to erase the
available effects such as distortion, whereas others can work with accessing a general effect,
such as reverb.
