Job Description The Toxicology/Preclinical Safety group in SRI’s Biosciences Division seeks an
enthusiastic and highly qualified scientist to provide scientific leadership and
strategy input in the process of drug development from lead optimization to
Investigational New Drug (IND) submission and product approval. The
responsibilities may include serving as a Study Director/research
scientist/project leader for toxicity and safety pharmacology studies; providing
scientific input and oversight on multidisciplinary projects using in­vivo
models.  The candidate is capable of designing and developing Investigational
New Drug IND­directed preclinical development plans and study designs to
assess safety of candidate therapeutics such as small molecule drugs,
devices, biologics and cells.  The candidate should have excellent
communication skills and be able to independently write scientific papers and
technical reports. Opportunities also exist within our group to pursue
independent research interests in the form of grants and contracts, as well as
working closely with other research scientists/mentors in the areas of drug
metabolism, pharmacokinetics and toxicology.
Qualifications Ph.D. degree in Toxicology or Pharmacology or related discipline with 2 – 5
years of post­doctoral experience or B.S./M.S. degree with 3 – 7 years’
experience in contract research laboratory (CRO), academia or industry.
Experience with in­vivo model of research and serving as a Study Director is
required.  Experience with data analysis and report writing for preclinical
toxicology or pharmacology studies is highly desirable.  Some familiarity with
Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) regulations is also highly desirable.
