Question-Answer about ICT in Education.
The problems that may affect the development of ICT in schools, such as there
are no enough budgets to maintain facility that used in ICT, the training usually more
specific and it does not relate to field needs or affective changing, and there are no
employees who able to work in maintaining and developing the facility. Next, the
definition of ICT, according to Finger, et al. (2007), Information and Communication
Technology (ICT) is referred to the tools that based on computer and everything about
computer, but it can be enlarged to develop other tools that used for information and
communication. The definition of Information and Communication Technology
according to UNESCO, According to UNESCO (2004), Information and
Communication Technology is technology that used to communicate and create,
manage, and distribute information. The steps that applied in teaching and learning
ICT in education, there are four steps of teaching and learning ICT in education,
namely discovering, learning how, understanding how and when, and specializing.
Next, Why ICT important in education, because ICT provides technology that
support teaching and learning process. ICT also affect the school’s system to be better.
This developing technology provides a tremendous opportunity for schools to develop
its education management and learning processes. Furthermore, the specific student
learning outcomes can be identified with the use of new technologies. In addition,
ICT has tremendous potential to transform the entire aspects of education in the
schools and use it to achieve learning goals. The benefits of using ICT for teacher,
there are many benefits of using ICT for teachers such as (a) ICT provides
opportunities for teachers to develop ICT-based teaching materials, exciting,
innovative and stimulating the curiosity of students, and (b) supports the teachers to
develop lesson plans including the provision of a comprehensive multimedia learning
resources and cutting-edge. Last, Write two benefits of ICT for students, benefits of
ICT for students: (a) the use of ICT can help students to work on assignments and
exams given by the teacher online, and (b) motivate students to develop the necessary
knowledge and skills in line with advances in science and technology.
Summary of Part 9 “Internet in Education”
Internet becomes one of information technology and communication products
which affects many sectors, especially in education. There is knowledge and
information on every aspect of the educational world over the internet. It is better for
teachers to utilize the Internet as a source of teaching and learning activity, as well as
the education administrative staff in order to facilitate the implementation of school
management, and in creating a good cooperation with other parts for developing the
better school management. The use of Internet in education also gives benefits for
students when it applied appropriately. Therefore, a role of teachers to control the
activity under Internet usage is needed.
The ICT Lesson Plan
Making an ICT lesson plan, where the teacher gives important points related
to the subject material and shows on Screen by using LCD, another example about
expressions of offering help and the expression of accepting or refusing help.
Hot Potatoes
The hot potatoes suite includes six applications, enabling to create interactive
multiple-choice, short answer, jumbled-sentence, crosswords, matching/ordering and
gap-fill exercises for the World Wide Web. Hot potatoes is freeware, and we may use
it for any purpose or project.
What do you expect to learn in the ICT4LT class.
a. Higher quality lessons through greater collaboration between teachers in
planning and preparing resources.
b. More focused teaching, tailored to students’ strengths and weaknesses,
through better analysis of attainment data
c. Improved pastoral care and behavior management through better tracking of
students
d. Gains in understanding and analytical skills, including improvements in
reading Comprehension.
e. Development of writing skills (including spelling, grammar, punctuation,
editing and re-drafting), also fluency, originality and elaboration.
f. Encouragement of independent and active learning, and self-responsibility for
learning.
g. Flexibility of ‘anytime, anywhere’ access (Jacobsen and Kremer, 2000)
h. Development of higher level learning styles.
i. Students who used educational technology in school felt more successful in
school, were more motivated to learn and have increased self-confidence and
self-esteem
j. Students found learning in a technology-enhanced setting more stimulating
and student-centred than in a traditional classroom
k. Broadband technology supports the reliable and uninterrupted downloading of
web-hosted educational multimedia resources
