ISL WEEK 6

My Mother
My mother's name is Anita. She is not fair and as well as no dark. I like
her appearance very much. So I believe and I feel that she must be the
most beautiful woman in the world. Actually, she is very kind for me
and rest of the family members. She is very careful of our hygiene.
When we get ill she is unrest. Sometimes she spends nights and
nights without sleeping. She always works hard to give us good
education. She takes us to school and brings back from the school.

My mother starts her day work early in the morning preparing our
meals. She is the busiest person in the house. She has lot of work to
do but she never gets angry with the lord of work. I understood it
because when works she sometimes mutters a song very softly.

She always tries to keep the house neat and clean. Sometimes getting
angry she shouts us when we turn the house upside down. Very soon
he anger goes with the wind and sprang up her usual kindness. At
that time I feel to embrace her. So I feel that mother is the prettiest
person ever I have had in my life. I cannot think of a life without her. I
love her more than my life.

Texts entitled “Lunch Break” and “A Rainy Day” have all the three types of sentences.
Example of the sentences in both texts are:-

1) SIMPLE SENTENCES

i. It was time for school.


ii. This is lunch hour for teachers and students.

2) COMPOUND SENTENCES

i. Not one minded the inconvenience of wet umbrellas, soaking shoes and
wet clothes.
ii. Children rush to their classes and then the school becomes quiet again.

3) COMPLEX SENTENCES

i. The street urchins were having a great time playing in the streets, floating
boats on the side of the roads where water was flowing fast.
ii. As soon as the recess bell goes, the calm of the school is broken.

My Last Sunday
Sundays generally have a fixed routine for the TV programs. But last Sunday was different. On
Monday I had two papers-English and Mathematics. Due to unavoidable circumstances, I had
not been able to do any revision. So, I had planned in detail how I would revise both subjects that
day.

I had planned to get up early and had set alarm clock to wake me up, but I got up very late. I had
to skip through my lessons in English to make up for the lost time. I was not really worried, as I
felt I knew it.

After breakfast, I started revising Mathematics. I got stuck in the third problem. I was still trying
to solve it when my uncle came with his family. I had to go to the market. When I returned, I
learnt that the maid had not come. My sister was busy helping mother in the kitchen. So, I had to
help in lying table, doing odd jobs and entertaining my uncle and cousins. I was free, only when
they left at 5 p.m.

I went to my room and bolted the door, so that I could study undisturbed. By the time I really
settled down there was a breakdown of electricity. I was very upset. Mother advised me to go to
sleep and promised to wake me up, as soon as the electricity came. As there was no current till
late at night, all went to sleep. When I got up, it was almost 5 o’clock. The lights were on in all
the rooms. I became worried and went round to see what the matter was. I found every one sound
asleep. I tried to sit and study but I was so angry and anxious that I could not concentrate.
Anyway, it was to get up and get ready.

Thus, the whole of the last Sunday was wasted. I could neither watch television and enjoy, nor
study. I felt very sad and regret with what was happened. I should do my study early soon.
ISL WEEK 7

From the audio-recording of the news report, students can develop their foreign language
like speaking in English. Besides, students have to pronounce the consonant sounds, vowel
sounds and diphthongs correctly. They have to speak the text given fluently and confidently using
the right stress and intonation. They learn to understand the different stress and intonation of the
text. The stress and intonation are very important to students know especially to the students
want to be a reporter. Furthermore, when students learn all of the sound system, they can read
the text with a good expression. A good expression can bring an excellent mood and also other
people will understand the news we talk about.
