Main Street Program Coordinator

Downtown Carlisle Association

The Main Street Program Coordinator provides office administration and supports operations of
Carlisle’s Main Street Revitalization Program. The Program & Event Coordinator will be a
positive and energetic champion for the long-term revitalization of Downtown Carlisle and will
support the DCA Programs throughout the community and know or be willing to train in the
National Main Street Initiative.

This is a unique position that requires a strong attention to detail, strong leadership, positive
demeanor, community organizing skills, entrepreneurial spirit, flexibility, event management
skills, strong customer service skills, and the ability to work independently. Some evening and
weekend hours are required to attend committee meetings and manage volunteer & events.

Range of Duties:

The Program & Event Coordinator duties will encompass a variety of tasks.

Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Program & Event Coordinator will:

 Manage daily general administration of the DCA office including answering phones,
greeting visitors, processing mail, filing, tracking of personnel leave time, purchasing and
maintaining office equipment and supplies, and other duties as directed by the Executive
Director;
 Attend, coordinate and manage Board of Directors/committee meetings and other
meetings as necessary or as indicated by the Executive Director;
 Assemble and distribute monthly Board and committee packets (meeting agendas,
minutes, financials, etc.);
 Record all monthly Board, Committee, and Sub-Committee meetings
 Assist in recruitment and retention of volunteers
 Make necessary updates or additions to the DCA websites and other social media;
 Assist in coordinating and planning downtown promotional events;
 Assist in generating revenue streams such as: corporate sponsorships and program
revenue, etc;
 Plan creative and media buys, write, review ad copy;
 Develop volunteer leaders to assist in program / event tasks and activities.
Desired Qualifications:

The Program & Event Coordinator should have:

 At least 2 years combination of education and or experience in one or more of the


following: non-profit corporations, public relations, fundraising, retailing,
communications or marketing, event management;
 A self-starter attitude, needing little oversight or direction
 Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
 Excellent written and verbal skills
 Ability to stay flexible and shift directions easily
 General computer skills. Prefered skills in MS Office, Photoshop, WordPress, & Social
Media applications;
 Exceptional customer service skills, ability to work with all types of people;
 Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

General Work
This is a non-managerial, full-time position at 37.5 hours per week
Limited benefits are afforded this position.
This position is managed by the Downtown Carlisle Association.
Starting salary $20,800 - $31,200 with annual merit increases.
