As part of our Forest Ranch Emergency Preparedness, the Forest Ranch Fire Safe Council is asking for at least two
or more residents to volunteer to be the Neighborhood Contact Person (NCP) for their block, neighborhood, water
district or road association. The goal is to get to know who in your neighborhood will need assistance in evacuating
their home, who has kids with parents who might be working out of the community, who has pets, etc. The good
news: we already have volunteers stepping up to help out. Will you be one of them? Join us!
Call 530-891-4075 and help all of us create a more secure community in the face of emergencies.
We have made a rough approximation of 22 neighborhoods in Forest Ranch in which we wish to designate NCPs.
We are looking for volunteers within the boundaries of Ten Mile Road (at the Green Gate trail head going west on
Highway 32) to Hardy Road just above the Platt Mountain CalFire Station. Call us if you are willing to be an NCP for
any of these neighborhoods: (See Chart below article.)
Duties can be shared with other Neighborhood Contact People in each neighborhood. The more NCPs
in a neighborhood, the greater the probability that there will always be at least one NCP around if others
may be away, on vacation or whatever. We will work to make this great public service job as easy and
convenient as possible for each volunteer. The bottom line is that an NCP is willing to learn how to
prepare for an emergency and be willing to share this information with their friends and neighbors in
their immediate area. The Fire Save Council will help the NCPs with all the following assignments
(and others as we think of them). Compile and keep on hand “INFORMATION”. Keep your neighbors
informed about the April Emergency Evacuation Drill. Know how to use county and other helpful
preparedness websites and help your neighbors use them to get info to prepare themselves and their
families. Maintain info on go kits, medical forms to have prepared, animal evacuation info, maybe have
fliers or whatever we can get for you and your neighbors. Find out who in your neighborhood will have
trouble evacuating their homes and find out how to make it known they need help. Be sure everyone in
your neighborhood has made advance plans, and help make sure all your neighbors have the
information to make advance emergency preparation plans. By getting to know your neighbors, their
needs and helping to insure they are ready for emergencies, if we need to assemble at the public
assembly point in the drill (or in case of a real emergency), NCPs would know who was missing or still
in need of help, the status of kids and pets, etc. The NCPs in each neighborhood will decide how they
want to divide these tasks or all of them could do the same thing but serve as back up for each other.
There may be one or two organizing meetings to attend, but we will keep meetings focused and
productive. We will create this network of neighbor to neighbor together and welcome your additional
ideas. (chart below)
Most of all, we look forward to working with you. Please call 530-891-4075 (leave voicemail if no
answer) and come to the aid of your friends and neighbors now – before it may be too late to help each
other. Thank you so much!
