1.0 SCOPE:
This Method of Statement details about Examination and Proof Load Testing of Lifting
tackles for xxxxxxxxxx project as per relevant standards, codes, and Client
specifications.
Test Weight equal to the Proof load shall be applied by way of under slinging at
the required beam radius.

Proof load shall be 1.25 times the specified Safe working load (SWL)
(As per ASME B.30.20)
Calibrated load cell is used to ascertain the test weight used.
Suitable, certified crane to be used for proof load test
Proof load testing to be carried out using suitable slings and accessories.
Proof load testing shall be carried out under the supervision of a LEEA certified

Testing engineer.
Proof load shall be applied for 10 minutes and checked for any visible
deformations.
In no circumstances shall the tackle be over-stressed or damaged during this
process.
After release of the test load, all welds shall be 100% visually checked for
cracks or deformities and the tackle is inspected for any excess
deformations.
All lifting pad eye welds shall be 100% Magnetic particle tested after load
testing to ensure the soundness of the welds.
Identification marking of the tackle and Safe working load shall be punch
marked in the tackle after successful completion of the proof load testing.
Upon successful completion of the proof load test & examination, Testing
engineer shall issue the test Certificate.
After completion of painting Safe working load shall be marked with Black
paint with minimum letter height of 150mm
