Mosaics are pictures made up of small broken pieces of glass, stone, or other things.
The oldest mosaic was found in Ubaid, Mesopotamia in a temple. It is dated at the 3rd
millennium BCE.

St. Peters Cathedral has some of the most amazing mosaics. At first glance you will
think that they are paintings, but they are actually made out of small pieces of glass. Imagine
how long it must have taken them to finish all of their artwork in that huge cathedral.
