What is Padlet?

Throughout the course, you will be sharing your ideas and finished
pieces of work with everyone on the course by posting onto virtual
walls. These walls are a secure, private space that only you, your
tutor and your colleagues on the course can access.

How do I access a wall?

During a lesson, it will be clear when you need to post to a wall. To

open a wall, click on the link in the lesson. The wall will open in a new
tab.

How do I add a new post to a wall?

1. To create a post, click on the pink circle

with the plus (+) icon:

2. When you make your post, remember to add

your name to the title of your post (A). A
3. Add text to your post by clicking in the ‘Write
something’ section (B).

4. You can add an image, a document, or any

other file by clicking on the ‘attachments’ part of
the post (C).

How do I comment on someone else’s post?

1. You can comment on your colleagues’ posts

by clicking on ‘Add comment’ on the bottom of a
post (A).

2. Make sure that you add your name to your

comment. Click the arrow when you are ready
to post your comment (B). A

You can make posts easier to read by
expanding them.

1. Move your mouse cursor over any post, and

click the ‘…’ button in the top right (A), then
click ‘expand’.

On other people’s posts, the dots will be in a

vertical line (B).

2. You can read all of the posts on the wall by

using the arrows at the top of the screen (C).

What is the Course café?

The Course café is where your tutor will contact you with information
such as course deadlines, new materials and urgent messages. The
café is also for general discussions about the course, your teaching
or any other subject that you want to talk about.

How can I find the Course café?

Open the Course café by clicking the button on the side bar.

What is in the Course café?

1. Your tutor will post important announcements in

the Course Café. Check the Café every time you
log in to the course to make sure you haven’t
missed anything important (A).

2. If you have any technical problems, you can
raise them in the ‘Technical Issues’ area (B).

3. If you have any other questions, you can create
a new post to ask them. Make sure you check
other people’s posts to see if they have already
asked your question.

What is a Discussion?

Throughout the course, you will be discussing your ideas and

experiences, and developing your thinking through group
discussions. These group discussions are a secure, private space
that only you, your tutor and your group can access.

How do I find the discussions?

During a lesson, it will be clear when you need to post to a

discussion. To open a discussion, click on the link in the lesson.

You can also access every discussion from the side bar by clicking
on the ‘Discussions’ button.

discussion?

1. Click the ‘Add a new discussion topic’

2. Add the name of the topic you are
discussing in the ‘Subject’ of your post (A).

3. You can add additional information to the

4. You can attach files such as documents

and images by clicking on the add
attachment button (C), or dragging and
dropping them into the attachment space
(D).

5. Don’t forget to click ‘Post to forum’ (E).

How can I reply to a post in a

discussion?

1. You can open a post by clicking on

the post title.

2. You can reply to a post by clicking the

‘Reply’ button in the bottom right.

3. Don’t forget to click ‘Post to forum’

once you have written your reply.

Note: group discussions will take place

over a number of days. Make sure you
log in several times a week to check on
the latest postings and participate in
your group’s discussions.
