STANDARD LESSON PLAN FORMAT

To teach the concept and understating of imitating rhythmic patterns and expressive

Introduce the activity by first reading the book “Row, Row, Row, Your Boat to the
children. Afterwards, children will then gather with a partner and sit on the floor
facing each other with legs stretched out in front of them. Grasping hands, toddlers
should pull gently back and forth as they sing, “Row, Row, Row, Your
Boat…………..”

The book named Row, Row, Row, Your Boat by Pippa Goodhart, and Audio of the

Children will have a partner to perform ‘Row, Row, Row Your Boat”. With a partner,
students will listen to the music and practice the rhythmic pattern using their body to

- Teacher will change the words in the song from “gently down the stream” to other
things like “Quickly down the stream”, “Slowly down the stream”, or “Bumpily down
- Hearing Challenged Student: Teacher must make sure that the child was sitting
assistance. The child can do an upper body wave when the other students do the full
body wave.
- Mentally challenged: If the child is having difficulty multi-tasking in this song, the
- Gifted Child: Allow the child to perform for peers. If the child excels faster than the
other students, have the child assist peers who might be having difficulty.
VII. Assessment
- Listen to make sure that all, if not most children are imitating the correct rhythmic
pattern.
- Watch to make sure that all of the children are performing the movement and the
expressive movement.
- Assess the children by observing the class as they perform. Listen and watch
children sing. Make sure children understand the concepts of this lesson plan.
