Study for roof louver effect on parapet wall.

1.) Purpose: To check the effect of proposed roof louver on parapet roof.
2.) Procedure: The louver with below configuration & applied wind loads as per ASCE-07/10
with following parameters:

Fig.1 Louver Configuration.

3.) Wind load calculation: qz = 0.613 KzKztKdV (N/m ); V in m/s

2 2 Mz
= 0.613x1.09x1x0.85x41.67²
= 986 N/m² Fx
= 0.986 kN/m²

where
Kd = wind directionality factor defined in Section 26.6
= 0.85 (open signs) 1.30m
Kz = velocity pressure exposure coefficient defined in Section 30.3.1
=1.09
Kzt = topographic factor defined in Section 26.8
=1.0 as per (26.8.2)
V = basic wind speed from Section 26.5

= 150 km/h = 41.67 m/s

Each tube supports 1.50 meters, applied wind pressure = 0.986 x 1.5 = 1.48 kN/m’

Fx = 1.48 (qz) x 2.70 (h) = 4 kN

Mz = 4 (Fx) x (2.70+1.30)/2 (h/2) = 8.00 kNm

Wind load acting on parapet due to wind load as extracted from approved calculations:

Hence, total wind load applied:

Fx total = 4 + 3.25 = 7.25 kN

Mz total = 1.06 + 8 = 9.06 kNm

4.) Design of parapet wall section:
