Area of application
Easy Motion Control is a low-cost package for simple positioning control and for simple gearbox synchronism for up
to three axes. It is suitable for use with any variable-speed standard drive, e.g. frequency converter, servo drive.
Incremental and absolute value encoders are supported.
Fields of application include:
• Single operating axes
• Retooling/setup axes
• Palletizing
• Feeding equipment
• Material transport
in the following applications:
• Bearings technology
• Woodworking and metal processing
• Packaging
• Paper processing
• Food industry
• etc.
Design
Easy Motion Control contains:
• Function blocks for positioning control and gearbox synchronism
• Drivers for SIMATIC modules;
reading-in of the actual position value and output of the speed setpoint are carried out using modules from the
standard SIMATIC program. Matching driver blocks are provided for the most common modules. Further modules
can be linked using the free driver (see Technical Specifications)
• Drivers for DP coupling to MM4
• Configuring software for parameterization and commissioning;
use of the configuring software is supported by online help.
• Example programs for various applications to facilitate acquaintance
Easy Motion Control executes on all SIMATIC CPUs starting at a particular performance class (see Technical
specifications).
Licensing
Easy Motion Control is runtime software subject to licensing (see Software License Conditions). It can be ordered as
a single license with or without data medium.
The package "Easy Motion Control, single license with data medium" includes a CD from which the function blocks,
configuring software, example programs and documentation in electronic form (pdf) can be installed.
A license must be purchased for each CPU onto which the Easy Motion Control blocks are to be loaded. The
"copy license" (single license without data medium) can be ordered at a reduced price. The configuring software is
not licensed.

Functions
Easy Motion Control offers the following basic functions for positioning:
• Absolute traversing
The axis drives to the specified position. With rotary axes, the destination can be driven to in the positive or
negative direction, or via the shortest path
• Relative traversing
The axis drives by the defined distance in the positive or negative direction
• Reference point approach, setting of reference point
Synchronizes the system of units with the mechanical system
• Gearbox synchronization
Axis moves with respect to another axis with gearbox synchronization
• Jogging
The axis moves as long as the control bit for one direction is present
• Stop
Cancels traversing and brings the axis to standstill
• Simulation
A program can be tested even if no real axes are present and no actual values are read in
• Override
A factor between 0 and 100% can be applied to the speed of movement at any time. Acceleration and delay are not
influenced by this
• Substitute traversing
Each traverse block can substitute another one. The current movement is transferred to the new movement with
the defined acceleration or delay
Further function blocks must be incorporated into the user program in addition, such as the position controller or
input/output drivers.
The Easy Motion Control blocks are called in a time-controlled level, e.g. a cyclic interrupt.
The function blocks of Easy Motion Control have been developed according to the technical specifications of
PLCopen, version 1.0.
