The center you are in charge of is geography, where they draw a picture of a
map of the school. In this map they must include, the office, gym, our
classroom, cafeteria, and music room.
I have provided a folder with a map that I drew, students maps should be
close to this but let them explain to you why they made theirs different if it is.
They can use crayons or colored pencils to draw, we suggest starting out in
pencil and then coloring the map.
We are focused on using words such as, up, down, to the left of, to the right of,
and across from. Encourage the use of these words when they describe their
maps to you.
When it is time to rotate, have students put their maps in the box on your
table labeled “Geography” and clean up their area. Once this is finished, they
are free to move onto the next activity.
Thank you so much for all of your help today! We could not have done it without
you! Included in the folder is a planning sheet showing you what skills we are
working on, why we are doing the lesson, and the procedure to use with the
children.
