Concept:
The Industrial Revolution in London

Justification:
In an industrial world, there are lots of machines working almost continuously to
produce a product. These machines are made from things like steel and wood which are
cold, hard and stiff, much like Sweeny’s disposition and general attitude about the world.
The cold metallics seen in the industrial workplace are also reflected in the razors Sweeney
uses as a barber. Another reason the Industrial Revolution connects to the show is through
it’s dirty, dark, metallic sense of the times. Working conditions were poor and people were
often in horrible situations, which also reflects the society in the show.
