Clinical labs offer testing for glutathione levels in both plasma and RBC. The plasma testing
generally reflects both the reduced and oxidized forms of glutathione. The normal ranges for
glutathione in plasma, according to the Health Diagnostics and Research Institute, are as
follows:
Total glutathione can also be measured in RBCs, which contain much larger amounts of
glutathione. The standard reference range for total glutathione in RBCs is 1,000-1,900
umol/L. Some clinicians consider levels in the range of 1,100 -1,200 umol/L to be "low."
