Introduction

Dust bin is a device used to collect materials from various places. Auto dumping refers that
there is no need to dump material manually or with external source. The dumping mechanism
is included in this project. A waste container is a container for temporarily storing waste, and
is usually made out of metal or plastic. Some common terms are dustbin, garbage can,
and trash can. The words "rubbish", "basket" and "bin" are more common in British English
usage; "trash" and "can" are more common in American English usage. "Garbage" may refer
to food waste specifically (when distinguished from "trash") or to municipal solid waste in
general. In 1875, the first personal rubbish bins were introduced in Britain to create a regulated
system of trash collection.
As our product is segregating the DRY & WET waste in two different compartments and also
providing the Odour to spread the smell in spite of dirty smell which always stinks out the
dustbin so our SMART DUSTBIN will help be help to differentiate the DRY & WET waste
and will also maintain the good smell around the space. We are totally new to market coming
up with the totally different product.
Managing waste wet and dry waste throwing waste in the bin is a good thing. However, it is
not where the process of managing waste ends, but where it begins. Segregation is the first step
of waste management. While most people think that it starts once the garbage reaches the huge
dustbin vans or the dumping grounds, it really starts right at your house.
Waste from a house can be broadly divided in to two categories – dry waste and wet waste.
Both need to be disposed and recycled differently. Wet waste includes cooked and uncooked
food, waste from fruits and flowers, fallen leaves, dust from sweeping and other similar things.
On the other hand, paper, plastic, rubber, metals, leather, cloth rags, wire, glass and things etc.
fall under the category of dry waste. Remember that wet waste is organic and dry is
not. Segregation is the first step towards proper disposal of both categories of waste. It is
recommended to have two separate dustbins in the house to keep wet waste from mixing up
with its dry counterpart. Bits of plastic, for instance, are dry waste components which if not
disposed properly then it will be hazard to environment
Urban India produces up to 188,500 tons of waste per day. Segregation and disposal is a major
part of disposing this waste. And you have an important part to play.

What is segregation of waste?

Segregation is the separation of biodegradable waste from non-biodegradable waste for proper
disposal and recycling. Improper segregation may cause mixing in landfills. This in turn, can
lead to toxic release in the ground and eventual contamination of ground water. Methane gas
is likely to be released in such circumstances, which is one of the most harmful greenhouse
gases. Proper segregation leads to proper recycling. Most of the waste can be reused and
recycled. However, improper segregation process can cause many things to be left out from the
recycling process. What most of us don't realize is that unsegregated waste from households is
sorted by rag pickers. They segregate waste with their bare hands.
What you can do?

The process of segregation is as simple as its definition. It can be easily carried out at home by
using two dustbins or a two in one dustbin like our product Klenzo one for dry waste and the
other for wet waste. Dry waste (non-biodegradable) follows a completely different process of
recycling from wet waste (biodegradable). Start segregating waste in the kitchen dustbin and
move on to the rest of the house. A little caution on your part can make a lot of difference.
Klenzo I trying to start a movement to improve the waste management of our cities and to raise
awareness about segregation of household waste into wet and dry waste. We plan to organize
awareness programmers under which we will educate and motivate RWAs, residents, school
students, domestic helps and waste collectors on source segregation of waste.
A dry waste collection and sorting center is also being established for waste collectors. This
not only contributes towards increasing recycling but also improves the income and livelihoods
of waste collectors.
Idea Screening
SCAMPER

Substitute- The product replaces the usual dustbin.

Combination- our product is a combination of easy dumping of waste and with odor
control filter.

Adaptability- our product is adaptable in every area

Modification- our product has been modified with two compartment for wet & dry waste.
Elimination- our product eliminates the problem created and time taken for separating the
dry and wet waste to be disposed.

Concept Testing:

Idea- Here we are to help you manage your dry and wet waste in a smart and
safe way with a dustbin which has two compartments for dry and wet
respectively.

Our research program for new product development (NPD) and new concept
testing is structured around four components of the NPD process: idea
screening, idea testing, business analysis and market testing. On this page we
will delve into these four main components, as well as touch on the
qualitative structure of concept testing, as well as brief discussion on
potential shortcomings to look out for.

So we have used Market testing for concept testing and run through survey
as the responses are shown below:

Why do you need Klenzo bins?

Everyone need to separate their garbage because of local laws. But others just want to be
more environmentally friendly and want to start sorting trash. For separating trash efficiently
and conveniently a dual compartment trash can is a great option an that’s we have come up
with multiple benefits trash bins

Advantages & Disadvantages

Advantages of a dual trash can

 Use one trash van for sorting trash and recycling.
 It simplifies recycling and requires little to no effort.
 No need any more for two separate bins.
 It takes up less space than two separate bins.
 It looks clean and it works more efficiently.
 A dual trash can is very organized.
 Less confusing for guests (which bin is for recyclables?).
 It reduces the clutter of recyclables that usually sits on your kitchen counter.

Disadvantages of a dual trash can

 You need two trash bags for each compartment.

 You need to be consistent which type of trash belongs to which compartment.
 It might be that after a while you come to the conclusion that the compartments are
too small.

6. Product launch (4 W & 1 H) and Roll out plan....

The product will be available in select outlets of D-Mart.
It will be shipped to stores and made available on 1st January 2018.
Our product will be available in Mumbai suburban and our preferred location is
between Andheri and Mira Bhayandar for all households.

7. Post launch Consumer Adoption process

Success depends not only on coming up with great ideas and making them happen, but also with
getting those ideas adopted by your target audience.

We assume that our dustbin will be adopted quickly as it is not complex in nature. It is different from
other dustbins. It has two compartments for dry and wet waste respectively and has a place for
putting in the anti-odor material which of the features other dustbins don’t possess.

We believe that our product is consistent with the set of norms and standards, in short it is
compatible for the environment.

We fear that our product will have low observability as people will view it just as another dustbin.
